Life expectancy around the Globe

Spain tops the charts, with people being born in 2040 expected to live until they are 85.8 years old. Whereas Lesotho, within South Africa , will be worst off, with its average life expectancy likely to be just 57.3 years

So, someone born in Australia in 2040 can expect to live to be 84.1%. What on earth is that? 84.1% of what? Most people count life expectancy in years.

That's what it is Sceptic, 84.1 years, I guess the .1 is the percentage of the year which to me would be one month in to the year.

Would be interesting to compare their diets, a lot of the lowest would be lacking in nutrition, clean water and health care.

People are earning more meat and healthy dose of veggies

thats why they are living longer

Moron!

Why the aggro Mick

is the pressure of the next elections and Shorten stuffing up labors chances getting to you

he lost a long time ago after pledging to raise pension age to 70 , reducing asset threshold and removing franking credits

Good observation MICK !

Is the common denominator in the top 10 the fact

That those countries have a Health system?

I am not sure if they all do though.

I thought people are already living to those "age's"?? ...

Oh well - I won't be around by then ...not sure I'd wanna' be either after hearing a Climate Change "expert" today saying that by 2040 (yep same year) temps. in Australia are expected to reach approx. 140 cel.   Gross!

...... just correcting my comment (above) of course I will "hopefully" be around in 2040.....wtf was I thinking -  or not thinking? ...... lol

Yeah right - methinks someone was caught out, haha

... more chance of being around in 2040 than you Trollboy!  All those bitter pills you take can't be good for you?  haha

NAH, don't think so babe, I don't smoke, I drink only the best red vino. I do a lot of sailing and enjoy the fresh air and laugh a lot, mainly at silly billies, haha

Laughing at yourself is good Micha

We all laugh at you too

No gender split up there.  Not sure if Portugal and Spain would have the highest life expectancies.  I thought this might have been in a cool climate country.

I doubt whether the information is factual but who knows.

I think we are what we eat.  So many people think losing weight means a lot of exercise.  The last six months I have managed to get off 1kg a month.        Must say I feel a lot better for losing 6kgs and it wasn't anything stressful.  But I certainly didn't go to a gym, just a little time on the exercise bike.   Cut out potatoe and cakes.  Gave the oven a rest.

Well done Celia, the cakes yes, but potatoes are highly nutritious and can still be eaten steamed with the skins on (extra fibre). I only use my oven to bake homemade wholemeal spelt sourdough bread. If you eat a healthy breakfast (mainly fruit) and a salad lunch you will feel energetic and no need for snacks either. Check out the calorie content of food and stay off the oils, they are very high in calories and provide no nutrition.

Thank you Musicveg

Oh yes musicveg, I enjoy a good breakfast.  My issues have been some sensativies to certain foods, so I have to side step a few things. The hardest is the first month, when we need to shrink our stomachs.     Now I eat much smaller meals, only use Virgin Olive Oil and Nuttelex Margarine, cannot have dairy as it is fermented.

Cannot eat wholemeal!    But limit myself to white bread.

Son brought around a lot of Navel oranges he left them on the tree and picked them as they were needed, what a difference from the supermarket oranges, much juicer.   Trouble is now he has non left on the tree!

Sadly white bread is empty food, no fibre and some have dairy and sugar. Nuttelex is highly processed from vegetable oils which are very unhealthy. Virgin olive oil only use sparingly.

Enjoy the oranges, fruit is very healing.

Have you read any books by Anthony william the medical medium? Very informative about healing an health problems. He recommends not consuming eggs, dairy, corn or pork, at least until you overcome health problems.

Alas Musicveg I have to eat what my body doesn't reject.

musicveg is right on the button, get off the dairy & white bread and replace with hemp and yarndy milk.

Teeter inversion therapy is great too, always good to have a good flow of blood to the head, makes for a cheerful outlook on life.

Sadly the way the world is going -- I doubt it  will be a very nice place to be alive in

Makes me wonder why Spain is number one, they don't eat as much seafood as the Japanese.

They eat an abundance of fresh vegies and fruit, perfect climate to grow, and they are very happy positive people. Seafood is too poisoned with mercury and plastic these days.

Australia cannot solve the world's problems.

Not so sure either whether length of life is so relevant, excepting that it always demonstrates that vaccination and basic engineering (clean water, drainage, removal of sewahe etc) are by far the greasest contributors to better health in developing countries.

Thinking in terms of quality of life and a life well lived, maybe Australia does not have the wood on some of those lesser developed countries.  Thinking about the long hours being worked and in commuting by my children and the taxes they pay.

With no drugs, some basic hygiene and no long grassing rellies molesting the kids or partners beating the bejesus out of each other (probably goes back to the drugs), the life of an Australian Aboriginal in a coastal area might be well up there in lifestyle and those few changes would dramatically increase longevity too.

The study

The findings add to a study last month which found that adhering to a Mediterranean diet can prolong people's lives. Spain is one of several European countries to offer tax-funded healthcare, with their healthcare system ranked as the seventh best in the world by the World Health Organization.

Syria is forecast to see the largest rise globally, adding more than 10 years to its average lifespan (to 78.6 years) and climbing from 137th to 80th, assuming its devastating civil war comes to an end.
