No one is safe anywhere. The fear of terrorism is a global one, but people should realise, by demonising Muslims as a whole will have some reaction from those extremists. People who do this may be playing right into their hands. Of course, be wary, look after yourself but take care you don't antagonise the good ones. The extremists are waiting to catch them.
Whilst here in Australia many have a bad word for refugees and migrants, they are welcomed in some parts of the world, in Italy for instance.
Excellent video Ray, thank you. I have this to add.
People are not angels. Some love to have someone to hate. As the famous philosopher Bertrand Russell said, “Few people can be happy unless they hate some other person, nation, or creed.”
Of course, the great majority of Muslims aren’t dangerous to them, but most people can’t differentiate between those that are and those that aren’t, so they react emotionally to anyone that resembles a Muslim as a potential enemy. Yes I agree they are “playing right into the hands” of the extremists.
For those who hate Muslims, at least have the decency to prefix the word “Muslim” with the word “extremist.”
Well said as usual my friend! Hope that crazy idea of moving the Australian embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem never bears fruit. More trouble ahead if that happens.
Specifically, what evidence is there in the original post or the news article linked thereto of the alleged "demonising of Muslims as a whole"?
Islamic fundamentalism is the concern is it not? Aren't you concerned about (say) the abuses of women's rights and the threat to everyone's rights and our way of life, posed by religious fundamentalism? Or shouldn't it be reported where Islamic fundies are concerned?
Both sides of government are revolted by and are opposed to Islamic extremism.
One would have thought that Muslim leaders/spokesMEN :( would be as well and would be champing at the bit to get the ear of government (as proposed!) to suggest ways and means to counter the menace.
I was very pleased to see these arrogant people who thought they were above the law, dealt with efficiently.
Dr Mustapha Kara-Ali (right) and his brother Diaa refused to dismantle an Islamic retreat built without council approval because they claimed not to be answerable to Australian laws
These two look as if they are thinking very hard how to combate this issue. You can see their wheels turning in the minds eye!
The white middle-class ecofeminists may have to concede that patriarchy and environmental destruction are not solely the preserve of 'white' men. Perhaps the Sisterhood could 'reach out' to their Islamic sisters.
Gee, don't you think that has been already attempted LJ?
My hairdresser five years ago walked up to a Muslim woman and asked her what it was like to wear that outfit, her reply was, 'you will find out soon enough'.
Muslim women wearing the burqa said they can't talk about their decision to wear it because their husband won't let them. A burqa or a niqab is veil used to cover a woman's face, and is worn by a small minority of Muslim women. The majority of Muslim women wear a headscarf which reveals their whole face. When approached by Daily Mail Australia, in Bankstown and Lakemba in Sydney's west (left, top-right and bottom-right), five women confessed their husbands would not like them speaking about it.

If a complete stranger walked up to me and asked me what it was like to wear a certain outfit..I don't think I would open my arms and give them a hug! Your hairdressr is obviously a very rude person and deserves whatever answer she got..besides.. you only have her word about what the woman supposedly said :(
The Daily Mail was initially established to cater to hate mongers in the UK..they are continuing to follow this philosophy in Australia in order to spread fear and hate..
Yes Celia - I'm not surprised at such a rude outburst from that woman to your hairdressers genuine and innocent question.
I also love the Daily Mail. It often publishes heartwarming stories about community and promotes multi-culturism amd tolerance in society
A friend was married to a Muslim who was very westernised. However, on a holiday back home to the Middle East, she was required to wear her sister-in-law's niqab when going out. She said that the garment was hot, heavy and cumbersome and the grill in front of her face was noisome and stiff with spittle.
Denmark will require new citizens to shake hands with an official in a ceremony which follows a face veil ban brought in on August 1 and critics say Islam is being targeted
