FALCONS (back again) ATOP MELBOURNE SKYSCRAPER .....Livestreaming now!! :)

.... the gorgeous Falcons are back yet again in their yearly "nesting place" atop one of Melbourne's skyscrapers ......

Not 100% sure but think it was reported there may have been 4 eggs initially (2 yet to hatch?) and already there are 2 White fluffy chicks under Mum n Dad's care ......

.... wonder why they choose to go there every year?

Awwwww - how lovely to see again!  Thanks for finding out these things and keeping us up to date!  Nice ......  :)

Agree Foxy ... thanks Suze.

Christine Nemeth did a timeline video of the 2019 chicks

It is absolutely beautiful to watch and makes you feel all fuzzy inside :)

Lovely video. Thanks Suze.

:) We'll have to do this all over again next year. Hopefully mum and dad will come back.

.... better late than never!  lol

Yes - thanks Suze for that vid. link - cute as ........

Wonder how the "kids" are doing now they all alone in the "big smoke"?  Hope they ok..... I miss popping in to see them.....

RnR - sounds like a plan to me .............  :)

Hmmm yes - that reminds me speaking of future "plans" .....been months now since our online pal PlanB has posted............not looking good IMO ..... I do know at one stage I was amazed at one of her posts and realised upon reading "stuff" she had done in the early 1940's -  approx. how old she may have really been?   Shame as she was a great bod and hated Tony Abbott with a vengence .....

Thanks Suze, that's a nice recap. Still feel sad the little one didn't make it though. Funny how they know they have to leave the nest once they are flying. I wonder how they do know that? Is it instinct or do they have their own language and are told by the parents they have to go? I have often listened to bird chatter thinking they have a language so my hunch is the latter.

Foxy, very worried about Plan B. She was in her 80's and I don't think she would have left for anything other than health reasons. Hope I'm wrong but fear the worst.

Ny19 - yes - I thought she may have been in her 80's given some of the personal "history" she shared on here ....so thanks for clarifying that ..... she had been on YLC for approx. 11 years and apart from a couple of computer glitches (which her only son fixed) ...rarely went "missing".

Like you - have had a gut feeling for weeks now that all was not well with her .....sad  :(

That's a pretty scary pic Ray. Wonder what happens if the chick can't swallow it? Guess I'll have to ask one of the experts at the Falcon watchers get together this evening.

I love that Hotel,  Young & Jackson's and always  go there for lunch when I'm in Melbourne.

I hope they introduce new camera system looking bothways and keep it operational for the whole year ..... like many others I watched an empty nest LOL

So a nice out look over the area would be good and we definitely would see birds fying by.

Somebody got lucky, Kersley Albert looked at the camers when operational on December 4

What a beautifulbaby it is :)

Everytime I look I just get a black screen :(

Oh wow - thats lovely to know they still around!  How beautiful he/she has grown!

Still using the ledge as a "dining table" lol .......ewww

I might pop back in more to see if I can catch them

Beautiful and good to see :). I only get the black screen too Foxy.

Do not know which is worse watching the empty nest as we had done of recent times or the black screen

... they need to update their camera system.

Kearsley Albert was also able to access the camera on the 5th of December

Apparently the dad on this occassion

As said by the website falcon expert Victor Hurley

' A key give away is the clean white "bib" of males. with the females the bib tends to look like she has spilled the tea over herself.

Also the wings don't project past the tail feathers.

The intense yellow of the talons tends to be more of a male thing.

As much as all these things the size of the thing is smaller than a female.'

So the baby is a female. Good info Suze.

I can’t help it.

Even though I know the camera is turned off I keep coming back hoping they’ve had a change of heart and turned it in again.

.... some have been lucky but not me :(

... well I'm looking every now and then too!  You never know we might be lucky to catch one of them!

Thanks for the info. Suze ...great you "onto it"  :)
