We are a couple in our 70's. We are fairly experienced narrowboat cruisers, having spent 10 weeks on them over the last 16 years. We have hired a brand new boat for 3 weeks starting in mid September starting in Yorkshire. The boat has 2 spearate cabins. We usually make our own breakfast and lunch which we eat on board, and moor at a pub for dinner. The cost is ~ A$800 per person (depending on exchange rate), which includes hire, diesel, gas and insurance. Final payment is due in late July.

We are flying into Manchester and will pick up the boat in Silsden. I have a potential route plotted in canalplan, and can make it available to any potential companions. 

You drive the boat and work the locks yourself, but don't need experience. Narrowboats travel at a maximum speed of 4MPH on canals. There is also plenty of opportunity to stop and explore along the way.
