What has happened to our country?

More and more we hear and see un Australian behaviour. Where and when did it start why is it being tolerated?

I am just reading this report I find it disgusting.

But it is happening more and more, both from men and women, so why?

I am guessing we have been taken as a soft touch so far.

"A woman has been filmed spitting on a police officer after claiming she was on her way to get tested for COVID-19.

The 25-year-old woman allegedly failed to stop for police in Greenacre, southwest Sydney, on Friday afternoon, after driving at speeds exceeding 120km/h.

She is also accused of running a red light and overtaking a vehicle on unbroken lines.

The woman was pulled over by police at around 5pm but she allegedly refused to get out of her car.

Video footage of the shocking incident shows her being handcuffed by an officer before spitting in his face.

Police say the woman claimed she was on her way to get tested for coronavirus."

Is it a coincedence that all these reports so far have been from the Daily Mail? It is not a newspaper renowned for fair and impartial reporting and is best described as a "gossipy" paper.

Good news stories don't make headlines but stories like these do and while the stories quoted are no doubt factual they are, I have no doubt. in a minority. The vast majority of people are doing the right thing and are acting in a community minded manner.

Instead of getting wound up about these stories just stop reading the Daily Mail.

I find the Daily Mail varied it's reporting, I also get news from WA Today, Telegraph and MSN.

As a couple that both have Acroid Cards we can both testify to youngsters parking in Bays designated for disabled people.

We both like to see a varied news content and I feel it gives a more balanced outlook on life and not so tunnel visioned.

Just an example is the story below, sadly there are many such like these stories in Australia today.

A female police officer has allegedly been headbutted and spat on after trying to arrest a man and a woman who were on a closed Sydney beach.

The man has been charged after allegedly assaulting the officer during the incident at Maroubra beach about 11.20am yesterday.

The beach has been closed by Randwick City Council and lifeguards reminded the pair of that and the government’s social distancing guidelines.

It is alleged the man and woman then verbally abused the lifeguards, who contacted police.

A short time later, officers stopped the 29-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman on Mons Ave in Maroubra.

Police said as they attempted to arrest the man, he allegedly headbutted and spat on a female sergeant, causing a cut to her lip and swelling to her head.

More police attended and following a short struggle, the pair were arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station.

The man was charged with assault police occasioning actual bodily harm, resist arrest, offensive behaviour and fail to comply with terms of notice erected by council.

He faced Central Local Court yesterday where he was refused bail to reappear at the same court today.

Only last week I was coming out of Coles when a man about 23 - 25 in a Coles Uniform was walking towards Coles and spat on the brick paving in front of people. This is in a more upmarket area too.

I think spitting is illegal in most states now.

Tanker, I fully agree with your last sentence. Misinformation is prevelant in most of the newspapers. It doesn't matter if the news is financial, political, or now, about the pandemic. If you want to read this sort of fiction, try Grimms Fairy Tales. At least then you will know that it is fiction.

Sorry but with my own eyes I have seen young children tearing down tape so they can play in the park when they shouldn't, and later teenagers doing the same thing knowing it was wrong. when challenged said it was only the flu and became abusive. Not all stories are fake.

I have to say, the generation most of us grew up in had its problems, but it was made very clear what was proper and honest behaviour and what wasn't. If you were doing something stupid when you were a kid and a strange adult growled at you, you took it and stopped what you were doing with no comment. Now if that happened, the adult would get a string of filth out of the mouth of the kid.Plus you could ask an adult for help and get it with no worries about being kidnapped.

The old Sunday school and Scripture classes in all schools taught us how to behave to others. We might not always do it, but we knew what we should be doing. We all understood those basic rules. What rules are there now? Do what you want, think of your own needs first etc etc.

I know there will probably be comments about the situation with the Catholic Church and they are serious ones, but show me one group of people which doesn't have some rotten eggs in it. There are rotten policemen, teachers, husbands, wives,doctors etc. You can't judge the entire group based on the actions of a few.

The result of no faith/ religious teaching/rules from parents is clear to see. There has never been so much crime,mental illness, drug reliance, blaming others, unhappy kids etc before. Many young women go to extremes( not all of course) (and yes, I wore my miniskirts and string bikinis in the day)with their plastic boobs, implanted backsides, pumped up mouths, then say they should be respected. Earn it. Act like a decent person and you'll be treated like one.

Anyway, sorry. That's my rant for the day.

Anna, I couldn't agree more. There are still good people around though. My husband walks with two arm crutches and you would be surprised the amount of people ask if he's okay. They are not all elderly though.

Hi Ollie, I use a walking stick and whilst some say I don't look 91 I still have had much younger people (than me :-) showing me kindness; very heartwarming. I also generally agree with 'Anna' comments

I agree with the above but trace it back to the Thatcher/Reagan where greed was encouraged and free enterprise promoted, If you want some thing go for it , was the slogan, and do not worry about the have nots, so now that generation want to have what they want and want it now, along with other selfish behavour, for example using the 12 items or below aisle in the supermarket when they have full trolly, parking in a disabled bay, pulling out into traffic and causing every one else to brake, occuping two parking spaces, tailgating because you are not going fast enough for them, never saying thank after some holds a door open for them, all the things that were considered good manners are now to much bother, standing aside when shopping to allow some to get through rarly receives an aknowledgement.

So true in what you say; my late father who would have been 102 in Feb, always used to say people in WA just stop they don't park their vehciles! That has not changed much, you just go to the parking areas of shopping centres and see vehciles left over the white lines.

Then you have the situation of the supermarket shelving since this virus took hold, restrictions would never have been needed to take place in our supermarkets twenty years ago especially for toilet tissues!

Yes pulling out into traffic is another thing 80 plus that is bad here in WA, not sure about other states?

They park on the verge of a local park instead of pulling in backwards, the College near us has only just put parking on their land, so for 30 years they used the verge. Now the new car park is not nearly large enough so the parents park on a park that is used for cricket on the weekends!

Last week I had taken husband to have a blood test, he has Leukemia. We came to the intersection by the College and a mother in a large four wheel drive was sitting in the middle of the intersection talking to children outside on the road! She had traffic behind her and us waiting to see what she was doing on the other side of the road.

When she realized the situation she started laughing! Great example for the children so as far as I am concerned it doesn't matter if the ankle biters go to a private school or community school, they seem to all have bad manners if their parents are no better.

The unfortunate thing is, 80 plus, because the rotten little ferals haven't been taught decent behaviour at home they won't be able to teach good manners to their own kids...and so it escalates.

Personally I believe the breakdown in social behaviour started long before Thatcher/Reagan. I forget the name of the Psychologist who started it all, however, Psychologist's, have been on the band waggon since interfering with parenting e.g. spanking you children is an offence.

I think the unsocial behaviour like the bad driving is because people are not picked up and told what they are doing is wrong. Look at the driving for instance, where are the police when you need them?

Children these days do not seem to have a parent to mould them, they don't seem to be home, they are working to make ends meet a lot of the time.

A child needs to be caught in the act of doing something wrong and explained that it is not right, if it is left the child makes other mistakes and so on. I guess this has happened because mostly mums go out to work. Perhaps this virus will make parents realize how much time they have missed with their offspring and realize what has happened with the guidance/discipline in the home!

I hate to say it, but it is the same situation with dog training, a puppy is taught to do something correctly only when the owner/trainer catches the puppy in the act!

My 48 year old son lives in Sydney.

Sydney is a very cosmopolitan city floss. Like London, Paris, Rome and Tokyo not to mention the Big Apple.

You find all walks of life even here in Perth.

When I used to go to College in the 1950s we had a lot of Malaysian students studying.

Today one of Australia's big income earners are Asian students, did you realize that?

For one the social goings on of the idiots that place rubbish on this site during the cover of darkness is something that we should all be ashamed of. What sort of parents bring people up to do this? Nobody is going to take any notice of their ads they do it so it annoys people mainly during the weekends.

What has society bred the last 40 years, misfits that like to annoy people. Heaven help the world.

Just look at the twits in Sydney hotels, young Australians playing in the passage ways of hotels when they are meant to be in their rooms. I think the police are too lax on them, they should start their time in solitude each time they pop their heads out of the door, surely there is security cameras in the passage ways?

I have often heard mention people have trouble with two year olds and I often wonder why? Personally my sons didn't give me a problem as 2 year olds, they were pretty good!

This brings make memories of my first visit to a new Infant Child Care Cemtre, it was a new office just opened. My second son sat aged about 12 months on my lap with his older brother standing next to us.

In comes a mum about the same age with two children about the same age, she looked at us sitting quietly and said 'how do you do that' ? I just smiled. Her oldest was putting on a show!

Interesting comments on how kids behave these days. I was scrolling through my Facebook feed yesterday and someone had shared an old photo of kids lining up for free soup, all just patiently standing in a couple of squiggly but orderly lines with their little cups in their hands waiting their turn.

The first thought that popped into my head was how different that photo would probably look today, and not just the fact that it was in black and white.

The only kids I know are those of family and close friends. From what they've told me or I've read on social media, their kids are behaving well during home isolation.

Seems to be younger travellers/middle-aged aggro folk behaving badly from what I've read.
