What do you think of Australians coming home and the way they are treated?

In Sydney travellers are being sent to the Swissotel Sydney where they are staying in rooms worth $209 a night (pictured)

Returning overseas travellers are ushered into the InterContinental Hotel for the beginning of their 14-day imposed quarantine in Sydney on Sunday

What is the alternative to compulsoy quarantine, let them wander around and risk infecting eveyone else. It would make the contoversey surrounding the Ruby Princess pale into insignificace. It has aleady been shown that a significant number of persons ordered to 'self isolate' chose to defy that order and went out into the community putting others at risk. They do not like the food, well hard luck for them, be thankful they have food available. I presume if Uber Eats delivered something to their liking the hotel would ensure it was sent up to their rooms. As for food sensitivities, I have neve been to a restaurant, hotel, airline, cruise ship etc where my food sensitivities have not been catered for. As for being locked in, I doubt it. No hotel would have doors that cannot be opened fom the inside. People can be locked out but cannot be locked in. Sorry to all those in 14 day quarantine in a hotel but this is the price you have to pay to keep our community as safe as possible. My wife and I have, at the insistance of our children, been in self isolation since  16 March and it looks like it will be a while yet before we are 'released'. Thank goodness we have Foxtel and Woollies have home delivery.

Returning Australians shoukd all have taken to Christmas Island - they can complain then.  To stadt with, tgey shoukd have co e home earlier before the quarantine period or shoukd not have gone away at all.  Selfish and ungrateful.  I bet tgan only a few of the returninf residents can actually afford the 5* hotel.

You do realise ,Lorna, that the government is paying for them .

If you listen to the proponants of running the camps, they are equivelant to a five star hotel, so why not send them to Christmas Island where they will have all the ammenities and health care provisions they could possibly need.

When my parets and their two children immigrated to Australia they were put into old military style baracks at Kangaroo Point, they stayed their until Dad found a job which took weeks, not once have I heard either of them complain about standard of accomodation.

Two weeks in any Hotel would have been considered a luxury to them, so suck it up people, you could have been stranded in a god forsaken pest hole like America, where people are protesting in the streets to uphold their right to infect others .

You have to wonder what the media says to them and what loaded questions are put to them.

They are now trying to stir up wingers in Wollongong about the Ruby Princess here at Port Kembla, the local red necks are easy to stir up.

I have seen interviews with some that agree with the quarantine rules and are happy to be home.

Some people, espacially the "entitled" ones will winge about anything, They obviosly live in the more affluent suburbs that are hot spots.

Think about the familes who have lost loved ones and stop wingeing.

Yes Oxleigh, a poll is seldom taken where the instigator doesn't allready know what the result will be.  Areas and groups are carefully selected so that the optimal result will be realised, questions are carefully constructed to provide " posative " answers.

" Do you think the President is doing (A) A good job, (B) A great job or (C) A fantastic job?"

Guess what people, most Americans believe the President is doing a good job.
