The cypher of King Charles III shows the letters C and R intertwined with III in the middle. A crown sits on top of the letters.

King Charles new cipher!

The Palace is planning his Coronation and also making arrangements for his funeral!

Thanks Sophie.

In modern heraldry, a royal cypher is a monogram or monogram-like device of a country's reigning sovereign, typically consisting of the initials of the monarch's name and title, sometimes interwoven and often surmounted by a crown.

On 26 September 2022, Buckingham Palace unveiled the cypher of the new king, Charles III, that will gradually replace the cypher of Elizabeth II in everyday use. The design was selected by Charles from a series of designs prepared by the College of Arms and features the King's initial "C" intertwined with the letter "R" for Rex with "III" denoting Charles III, with a Tudor Crown above the letters. Charles's Scottish cypher uses the Scottish Crown instead.

Slow Changes

His new monogram will appear on government buildings and state documents, however, new bank notes with King Charles III's face on them will be unveiled by the end of 2022, but won't be in public circulation until mid-2024. All existing postboxes will remain unchanged and those already in production or being prepared for installation will also retain the insignia of Queen Elizabeth II. Once these have been installed, new postboxes will feature the cypher of King Charles III. The late Queen will also feature on four new memorial stamps, the first set to be approved by the King. On sale from November 10, they will feature four different portraits taken of Queen Elizabeth over the 70 years of her reign.

Will take a long time for the changeover.

I will miss not seeing the Queen though....sigh.

So cute...all dressed up in her Welsh costume to greet the Princess of Wales.

NASA says DART's asteroid impact was a huge success.

The DART spacecraft's collision changed a harmless asteroid's orbit more than expected.

Today, Oct. 11, NASA announced that not only did DART (Double Asteroid Redirection Test) meet its preliminary goals — it exceeded them by a longshot. In a media briefing, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson confirmed that DART successfully changed Dimorphos’ trajectory, changing the orbit around its parent asteroid, Didymos, from 11 hours and 55 minutes to 11 hours and 23 minutes.

Nelson added that the mission was “expected to be a success” if it altered Dimorphos’ orbit by 10 minutes, but DART did even better, changing it by about 32 minutes.

That experiment may possibly save lives.

Wonderful news...looks like we'll be safe for another thousand years or more!

Tonight's blood moon will be the last total lunar eclipse until 2025 - and most Australians have a chance to enjoy it.A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth moves between the moon and the sun, with all three bodies in alignment, casting the moon in shadow. That will be taking place tonight, with people in the eastern states getting the best show. The total lunar eclipse will begin for Australia just after 8pm AEDT.That's just after 7pm in Brisbane, 7.30pm in Adelaide, and 6.30pm in Darwin. As the moon will be much lower in the sky, it will battle against the twilight glow during the eclipse's early stages.Eastern Australia will see the eclipse shortly after the full moon rises. The further north you are, the longer you'll need to wait before the eclipse begins. For Brisbane it will start more than an hour after moonrise, so the moon will be higher in the sky. In Hobart the eclipse begins just 15 minutes after moonrise. For the rest of Australia, the eclipse will begin before the moon rises. As an extra treat, Uranus will be visible just a finger's width above the moon, resembling a bright star.

There was this magic glow about but unfortunately cloud spoiled the view that was seen by others.

If you missed it, you will have to wait till 2025 to get another opportunity.

Where is everyone????

See, if you wuz nicer to me, I woulda stayed.
