Pope Francis departs from Vatican teachings
Pope Francis endorsed same-sex civil unions last week sending shockwaves through the Catholic world.
The Pope made the admission in a documentary called ‘ Francesco’, which covered the issues he cares most about, including climate change, refugees and social inequality.
During the documentary Pope Francis says that gay couples deserve to be part of the family and also added his support for civil unions to give them legal protections.
The Vatican has refused to comment on the issue.
Do you support Pope Francis’s comments? Is he doing the right thing by bringing the Catholic church into the modern era?
Bringing the Catholic Church into the modern era is a step up on keeping it back in the dark ages where it has resided for so long. About time the Pope made a move to combat the evil of homophobia previously espoused and encouraged by the church, hence indoctrinating hate and rejection of LGBT into the minds of Catholics world wide. A small move way too late but hopefully will have some positive impact.
