New lamb ad brilliantly skewers PM

After Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced on Monday that his state would be introducing a permit system for all visitors from other part of Australia, the latest summer lamb ad cuts dangerously close to the bone.

One of the most eagerly anticipated ads of the year, every summer the lamb campaign seeks to bring different issues to light while promoting the virtues of lamb.

This year's ad pictures a dystopian vision of Australia in 2031, with all the states of the mainland being separated by walls to keep the other states out.

Eventually everyone is united when an old man catches the scent of lamb through a hole in the wall. Exactly why all states don't have their own lamb supply, isn't exactly clear, but the best bit comes right at the end, when Prime Minister Scott Morrison is skewered beautifully for his performance during last year's bushfires.

The Prime Minster and the State Premiers are to be congratulated …it is because of their response to Covid 19 that we are the envy of the world.

The ad may be humorous, but the Daily Mail headline is definitely not!!

“Aussie farmers take aim at paranoid premiers over trigger-happy coronavirus border closures” (Daily Mail).

A prophecy, just like The Simpsons? Yes I think in the 2030's we will still be waiting for broadband rollout and the PM will still duck and weave on the beach in Hawaii instead of face issues at home.

An excellent ad (can't believe I'm even saying that). There are a few nice touches such as Australia in 2031, and there are further delays to the NBN rollout. But the cameo appearance of our smarmy PM is definitely the highlight.

Brilliant!!

Why do people consistently blame the PM for the fires? The fire handling has ALWAYS been STATE controlled and Federal only steps in when asked. It would have made no difference if Scott Morrison was Hawaii or Timbuctoo- The states failed to burn off and control undergrowth. Like the ad for Lamb, and agree that State's have acted stupidly on border closures. PM should not be brought into it!

Thank heavens for the Aussie sense of humour! I have not laughed so much for some time. The ad not only illustrates the absurdity of the current situation but made me feel like lighting the barbie and buying some lamb. Congrats to the creative minds behind this ad.

Agree, Hilda92922 but this site never misses an opportunity to denigrate the Federal Government. Most people seem unable to differentiate between state and federal issues, sheeting all ills back to the Prime Minister whether he is actually responsible or not.

Agree with all you've said Buggsie.

Love the ad and laughed my head off.

So many funny digs amid all the doom and gloom and the reality of the situation.

Couldn't agree more KSS, and Hilda92992, this site's sniping at the PM and the federal government speaks more about the quality of the reporting and the quality of the reporters/presenters than anything else.

Hilda, amongst many other things, Morrison lied about where he was. When he was made a Minister, and each subsequent appointment, he swears an oath of office. He now runs the most corrupt government Australia has ever known, including JBP's efforts in Queensland. If I was his parent, I would make him repeat Sunday School and re-learn the 10 commandments - he's obviously forgotten them. I too loved the Lamb ad. I'd love to know where I can buy Lamb cutlets which have so much meat on them?
