A small matter of creativity.

I've posted a similar question months ago, but this is a different slant.

My creative spark seems to be going out.

I want to write, and cannot.

From what I’ve read, there seems to be a link between activity and creativity. Active people – in males, those with higher testosterone levels – are supposedly more creative, and somnolent people less. I’m by nature one of the latter. I’m also 73.

It’s been suggested I might benefit, might increase my testosterone levels naturally, by upping my intake of oysters, eggs, garlic, broccoli and cabbage.

Does anyone have anything to contribute on this topic that may help?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Topolino, I honestly don't understand your problem. If you want to write and you have the theme and the inspiration, what stops you? I don't think that testosterone ever could replace talent. Did you ever write before or you've just decided now that it would be a good thing? Maybe if you tell us in a bit more detail about your dilemma somebody could give you practical advise.

I've reconsidered the testosterone issue and you may be correct. My real problem is that I think too much, and I'm inhibited. I can write technical stuff with both hands tied behind my back, but I want to write fiction, where one needs to let their mind roam free. Inhibitiion holds me back; I need to find a way of breaking out (without drugs).

Inhibition, you say .... What are you scared of?

What would you like to write about? You know creative art is like having a baby. If the idea is there and you have the urge to give birth to it on the canvas, in music-notes or on the paper you kind of HAVE to do itl It may be not successful the first time, but with practice you get better.

What sort of novels do you want to write - historical, romantic, sci-fi or what genre? Do you have something in mind already? Creative art can not be forced - the talent is or there or not.

So, what do you have in mind?

Maybe you actually want to be a "flasher" lol but inhibition holds you back.....

I am sorry but do not quite understand why anyone would be inhibited in writing. Whom do you want to see these writings? if just for yourself inhibition should not worry you (unless you are finding deep reservoirs you did not know you had and they are really naughty thoughts lol and maybe best to be kept just for yorself) ???

There are many things you CAN do and places you CAN go. Life is moving fast so if you need to get rid of inhibitions in whatever path they lead, better hurry up.

You have asked here and on the other forum several times on both, so maybe you will have to

meditate on it yourself.

Good luck tread the boards but be careful :)

Phyl.
