ALZHEIMERS RESEARCH

Just read this article and it sounds very promising.  Have a look at the brain scans in the article before and after drug treatment.

"The results are definitely exciting, but it’s time to replicate them in a larger group of patients. The team is now recruiting another 2,700 patients from 20 different countries to participate in a new 18-month trial, the results of which are expected in 2020."

I understand the call is already out for volunteers here in Australia.

Amazing research into Alzheimers where the brain is cleared of amyloid deposits after aducanumab treatment.

It looks so promissing

Abby, I am very excited by this...I have a friend whose wife is really bad;  I dont know if it would be of help to her but it would be wonderful if it came on the market very quickly but I do know it has to be tested properly...just takes so much time and that is the frustrating part!

This is off the original topic that I put up in late September.  If anyone is interested the number to ring for the trial is on the bottom of this article on the ABC.

Sorry Sandi...I did try and find the previous topic on alzheimers this but did not know where it was and was unaware it was the same thing.

That's OK radish.  I only put that bit on as it has the number to call if ozzies want to get in on the trial.

I couldn't find the other one either, but I had put it on another forum too so was able to get the original ABC url as it showed the phone number to call.  So I will put your piece on there too.

I think the trials are being carried out at worldwide institutions, all as part of the same trials.  It will be great if something comes of it.  I have a friend whose wife is in the early stages too, so they are watching with great interest.

Maybe your friends might want to do the trial.  My only thoughts are people are scared to do these trials in case they get the placebo and then it's a wasted effort for them.  Maybe for those given the placebo in the trials and if it proves worthwhile they should be guaranteed of getting the correct treatment at the end, instead of having to wait till it's released.    Seems fair to me.

Sandi

Thanks for putting up the ABC url

Which leads to the trial link

Doctors need to be made more aware of the scans available. One told me there wasn't any. A close relative of mine had scans in the early 2000s, either in or prior to 2006.

This study highlights the benefits of activating the Nrf2 cellular pathway in Alzheimer's sufferers.

There is a patented, all-natural Nrf2 Activator now available in Australia which is proven to reduce Oxidative Stress significantly.

Well at least there are scans now during the 70s and into the 80s there was none and it was only after death that they could look at the brain
