Antivirus on Dial-up

Hello,
I am on dial-up and also use Avast as a free antivirus and have found it very good. Easy and quick to download and like Bev said only takes a few minutes to update every day.
I used to have AVG which was another free one but I couldn't download the 2009 version.
I have used Norton and a couple of other ones you pay for - one especially was not compatible and stuffed up Outlook Express.
I only use the Windows Firewall, used to have Spyware but ended up deleting it.
Hope this helps you.
Cheers.

Thanks TW. Avast seems to be the one for Anti-Vir.

I think she could probably do without the anti-spy for now, as she doesn't use the computer much.

hello koko, yes AVG does have anti-virus and it starts up automatically at 8pm each evening

Thanks Wendy. I'll look at AVG as well.

Early December I lots my internet connection and had to get a tech to look at it. He fixed the connection problem but in the meantime thought he would redesigned my protection against the little nasties who spend all their time sending out trojans, virus's and spyware for nefarious reasons.

He took off Avast which I had used for a few years after being let down by AVG Free. And put in - yep AVG Free and it was an old version and I got virus's 2 via it - thank you for the bit I asked for - Mr young but out of date Tech I paid you but never darken my door again is the silent message out to this tech. :(

Avast sorted it out. Now it is not an easy one to use but persist as it does the job and updates daily in seconds not minutes. Free.

everyone needs spyware as it is around even on what most consider to be trusted sites in links that pay them and we click onto inadvertently at times.

Link here discussing one of the better ones MAM. I use it but free version and also have real time protection via paid version of super Anti spyware along with spyware Blaster which is a silent list which scans together with the real time and WinPatrol which tells me if anyone is altering my start up list or other things.

Thanks BigVal.

This query is not for me Btw. Avast seems to get the vote. I'll be looking at that one for sure.
