Aussie are no fun

According to the 2019 Fun Report, conducted by The Happiness Institute and Carnival Cruise Line Australia is is a 'fun crisis', with three in four saying they feel guilty when they have fun.

Aussies also gave the nation a fun rating of just 5.6 out of 10.

Four in 10 say they try to find a balance between work and play.

Almost half of the survey respondents think that life used to be more enjoyable in the past, when life was simpler.

Not having enough money to enjoy themselves (56 per cent), followed by feeling burnt out or not having had a holiday in a while (39 per cent) and having too many chores (39 per cent) were the main barriers to having fun.

More than a quarter of Australians (27 per cent) also said they don't have enough quality time with their family.

“Plain and simple, Aussies have forgotten how to have fun,” said Dr Tim Sharp, aka “Dr Happy”, from The Happiness Institute and co-author of the report.

“With people’s lives getting busier and busier, Australian families aren’t prioritising having fun or spending time with each other, and when they do enjoy themselves, they feel exceptionally guilty about it.

“Regardless of who’s to blame, all this signposts that something is out of balance in our lives.”

Be more like Pooh…"What day is it?' asked Pooh. 'It's today,' squeaked Piglet. 'My favourite day,' said Pooh."

Most of the Aussies I know are fun..I would not have them as friends if they were not!

Life is too short to spend time with prophets of doom, stuffed shirts, wet rags and alarmists!

I've noticed over the years there are those that sit back and like to be entertained, but themselves don't do any entertaining! I feel you need to meet people halfway to enjoy life.

Those that get up and entertain or keep the 'talk' going like to also sit back and hear what others have to say.

Perhaps as we get old we sit back too much and want to be entertained do you think?

I have only just found this Thread, but it brings back the song from the old movie 'Gigi' sung by Maurice Chevalier

Lyrics

We met at nine, we met at eight, I was on time, no, you were late
Ah, yes, I remember it well
We dined with friends, we dined alone, a tenor sang, a baritone
Ah, yes, I remember it well

That dazzling April moon, there was none that night
And the month was June, that's right, that's right
It warms my heart to know that you remember still the way you do
Ah, yes, I remember it well

How often I've thought of that Friday, Monday night
When we had our last rendezvous
And somehow I foolishly wondered if you might
By some chance be thinking of it too?

That carriage ride, you walked me home
You lost a glove, aha, it was a comb
Ah, yes, I remember it well
That brilliant sky, we had some rain
Those Russian songs from sunny Spain
Ah, yes, I remember it well

You wore a gown of gold, I was all in blue
Am I getting old? Oh, no, not you
How strong you were, how young and gay
A prince of love in every way
Ah, yes, I remember it well
