Barkho family...cruise ship

The Barkho family at the centre of the brawling on board the cruise ship have now asked for police protection.

"As the family was offloaded on to police boats on Friday morning, passengers yelled from above on deck, yelling: “Get off” and: “You’re not heroes, you’re deros”.

One of the evicted members of the family held up a derisive finger in response.

Their removal from the ship came after passengers said a large family had “picked on Aussies” and “strangled and punched” passengers for three days before Carnival Legend called police and offloaded the relatives."

Curious about the words "picked on Aussies"...(I thought the Barko family were Aussies?)....however a search reveals it is a Syrian name and it would appear the family are of Lebanese descent.

The cruise ship security should have locked them up in cells and offloaded them at the next port to let them find their way home

or locked up until handed over to the police at the end of the trip

My thoughts on the Barkho family are the same as Foxy's.

The name is interesting....it is a Syrian name and I understand the family are Lebanese and they are now seeking police protection.

According to something I read today they were singling out "Aussies" to attack on the ship.  I thought they regarded themselves as Aussies.  Maybe they don't.

Why should they need police protection???

Why should they get it??????

lol - the "Barkho Bogans" ! lol lol lol  ......

Anyone see the "mega mansion"  they live in?  No wonder they can afford a cruise for like 20 of 'em?    Wonder what they "deal in" - drugs - ice-creams - dog walking - yap yap -   Barkho?    (just kidding ......)     lol lol lol

Agreed, Foxy.

I doubt very much if their money came from legitimate sources.

Too bad the Cruiser did not have them charged

I would be spitting chips if I was a fellow passenger who had forked out thousands to go on the cruise and this happened.  Some people save up for ages to be able to afford a nice holiday and then have it ruined by this low life.

No wonder some cruisers prefer to pay more on other liners to avoid this riff raff which is all I call them...mega mansion or not.  You either know how to behavior in society or or you don't...money cannot buy it.

..... there are certain cruise lines right now - that have changed their schedule to over 50's only!!  - NO kids!!

Still would not excite me - could imagine nothing worse than a cruise with all "old peeps" - on their walkers - obese - all "yaking" about the "good ole' days"!!!   ....and boring as bat shit!   lol lol ....... too each "his/her" own!

Not for me!!!   Gimme' a "Woodstock"  scenario anyday!   lol lol lol

I think that the crew should have turned the ship's hoses on them.  This would have brought some order very quickly.

Imagine what the Barkho family would be like as neighbours.  :-0

If they behaved like they did on the cruiser ... they would be the neighbours from hell.

How bad was this situation - I feel very sorry for those people on the ship who experienced this disgraceful behaviors from this thuggish family.

In my opinion, this rogue family should be banned from future cruise ships and perhaps an alert be placed on their passports re future travel, ie imagine if this behaviour occurred on a long flight - they are dangerous and should be treated as such, regardless of whether they receive a pathetic conviction etc. they are criminals.

Hmmm ... still wondering what kind of "business" the Barkho's may be in (just out of curiosity...) as media reports state they are -  "an extremely wealthy family with many luxury cars housed at their palatial residence"  ............. ?

I am wondering if this is one of the family members...I could be wrong though.  The name is not that common.

What reason did the family give for requesting police protection??

I guess they could ask for this if they were involved in criminal activity that had got out of hand.

I have done a bit of research online and cannot find out what they actually do for a crust.   The only hint I may have got was that maybe the father could run a car dealership but that is just suppostion on my part.

Also had a look at the inside of the mansion.   I wonder if the tax department are having a look at them also ???

Legitimate businesses are often a front for rather dubious activities.

Sure are.  Look around at the number of gyms and crash repair shops who are run by some "dubious" characters.

I have found out that the father David Barkho runs an upmarket limousine hire business.

.... Tattoo Parlours also ..................................  rife !

Go on a Cruise,  NO thanks -- would be like being locked up in a club -- which I hate -- and can not explore interesting places with the time allowed on a cruise -- and IMO they are like floating -- Petri -- dishes -- likely to end up with God knows what.    I am also not into   'floor shows' etc if I was to go on a cruise it would be a yacht with people I choose and be able to stop off and stay or leave as long as we wanted.

Thanks PlanB for saving my one finger typing; you said it all for me :-)

I cant help but think there's a hollywood blockbuster in there somewhere? "Meet the Barkho's".

 or Barkhos go Berko?

Oh no.......these horrible people do not deserve any attention - yuck.
