"Black Lives do Matter" - George Floyd - U.S.A.

Well here we go again!  No surprises eh?  Yet another "black" person dying at the hands of some "rogue" white cop in Minneapolis U.S.A.

handcuffed black guy lying face down on the road behind a police car with the cops knee pressed onto his throat!!  Nice!!

Police now have hundreds of minutes of "footage" from the general public's cell phones and the results are astounding!

Knee pressing on throat: 8 mins. 46 secs. PLUS another 3 mins of 'George' lapsing in/out of consciousness!

Calling out "I can't breath" and in his final moments calling out for his Mother!

OUTRAGEOUS ........... much has transpired since ......

Beheadings, drownings, lynchings - at least Yoda is still safe - for now!!!!!

Bay Area protest updates: 'Matter, Black Lives Do' message pops up ...

Perhaps COVID19 affects the human brain

I guess Yoda was not responsible for any bad treatment of black people. It is kind of exciting that people are making a stand on the inappopriate monuments of history. Will be interesting to see if it happens in Australia.

I do not agree with doing damage and setting places on fire etc -- I think that those statues should stand BUT they should have a plaque to tell just what that person did GOOD OR BAD, it is history and we can not delete history -- and why the hell is this not taught in schools?

Obvisosly Morrison learn nothing in school OR out of it -- saying we never had slavery here -- UNBELIEVABLE

That is a good idea putting up the infor about the bad they did as well, tell the true history. Scomo lives in a bubble, his bubble world.

There were white looters across the US also, so it has nothing to do with Black people, but everything to do With the character of the person;  even if they are orange with green spots on if they are responsible, reliable, trustworthy characters the rest of the community respects them. But not Folks that loot and destroy buildings and statues.

These are usually criminals anyway, just taking advantage of a situation with all the mayhem and police busy, always happens. Don't see anyone going for the fruit and veggies lol.

How cool is this?  Read this in paper today ..................

"Band-Aid Matches Skin"

Band-Aid will release a diverse range of it's products matching the skin tones of all it's customers.  There a 5 x  new tones including the matching of various brown/black colours.

Johnson and Johnson released the following:

"We stand in solidarity with our Black collegues collaborators and community in the fight against racism, violence and injustice."

Johnson and Johnson also pledged a large donation to "Black Lives Matter".

The company's thousands of Instagram followers cheered the decision - majority saying: "Love it - better late than never"!

Cool ???

.... companies will do anything to sell

... my last batch of bandaids were of Disney Freeze

... they were on sale.

That is great, post it on the RAK topic too where I posted the Crayola skin colour crayons being released.

....  good idea  ....  obviously there are people that will never see "good" in anything!  Negativity PLUS......   Pathetic!

This is no RAK - it is an opportunistic grab for money. Hope no one buys it especially black people.

What a flaming insult. Wearing a a black band aid on a black hand makes a person even more prone to injury because people can't see it.

Band-Aid Rips Off Black-Owned Businesses' Idea With New Line of ...

Commonsense died in Australia the moment tens of thousands demonstrated side-by-side in the middle of a pandemic.

Forget for a moment any debate about the strength of the cause and consider the medical evidence.

No meaningful social distancing, an infectious demographic and deep-seated carelessness combined to produce the obvious.

One infection that we know of and the potential for many more.

One positive test doesn’t make a cluster but it poses some serious political and medical questions.

The states failed the most basic test and, in the case of Victoria, appeared to be turning a blind eye to the activism.

The hypocrisy is profound, given the straitjacket imposed on a nation and with an economy still in hibernation.

We know that young people aged 18 to 30 are at high risk of contracting

and then passing on the virus.

These are the people who were ubiquitous at the march.

This cohort is dangerous because in many ways they are like all young people,

ten foot tall and bulletproof in their own minds.

They tend to care less about what happens to other people and the science suggests that even if they do get the virus, it won’t kill them.

you cannot stop evolution - stupid is as stupid does

But they are wearing masks, if it was contractable through breath then they will be fine, just because one person having the virus does not mean they will spread it if they are taking the right precautions. There are  many people going about their business in the community not taking any precautions and we are not in the middle of a pandemic we are at the end of it. Over 700,000 people per year die from mozzie bites are we doing anything about that?

Don't forget the 1,000 plus Influenza DEATHS in Australia every year!  Lots of graphs online for people who lives are consumed by those!

Coronavirus 102 DEAD ...... go figure .....

Last year, there were over 900 influenza-linked deaths in Australia.

But until the end of last month, federal authorities had only been alerted to 36 "laboratory-confirmed influenza-associated deaths" in 2020, according to the Australian Influenza Surveillance Report.

Perhaps the Social Distancing, washing of hands and the lockdown we've had is working ?

Most flu's get spread in heated offices and other buildings so people not soldiering on into work plays a big part.

Taken from The World Health Organization.

Mortality for COVID-19 appears higher than for influenza, especially seasonal influenza. While the true mortality of COVID-19 will take some time to fully understand, the data we have so far indicate that the crude mortality ratio (the number of reported deaths divided by the reported cases) is between 3-4%, the infection mortality rate (the number of reported deaths divided by the number of infections) will be lower. For seasonal influenza, mortality is usually well below 0.1%. However, mortality is to a large extent determined by access to and quality of health care.

This latest death won't help ease the current emotions of the "Black lives Matter" campaign.

Atlanta police shoot dead a black man after an alleged struggle in a restaurant drive-through.

Rayshard Brooks, 27, was reported to police for sleeping in a car blocking the Wendy’s drive-through, and was shot after he failed a field sobriety test and resisted arrest, authorities said. The footage, released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, shows Mr Brooks firing a Taser toward the officer, who chased him through the car park before shooting and killing him.

Atlanta's Police Chief Erika Shields had resigned over Mr Brooks’ murder.

Now that is stupid, how can this still be happening, what is wrong with these people, it was not like he was a dangerous man, so he was drunk and sleeping it off but chose the wrong place to do it, so what! Not worth being killed over, these cops are just murderers plain and simple.

That is going to make the emotions of the protestors even more mad and will extend the protesting for sure.

That is crazy not fair taking it out on Wendy's, I feel sorry for the business owner because they are all franchised owners.

not a clever idea from both sides ... the cop should not have shot him however it might have been a different outcome if guy had said "sorry officer, I'm crissed as a picket and ready for you to take me home" rather than grabbing the cop's tazer, running away and shooting the tazer at the cop

Farside no matter what he did he was still shot in the back and he did not deserve to die.

ANOTHER INNOCENT BLACK VICTIM OF POLICE

Elijah was a 23-year-old massage therapist who was out buying an iced tea for his brother on August 24th, 2019. His friends and family describe him as gentle and sweet. He loved music and taught himself to play the violin as well as many other instruments, and loved to go running. He was a pacifist. During his lunch hour, he used to play violin for stray cats at local animal shelters to help them calm down. He was also a Black man.

That night, someone called the police about "suspicious behavior" because he was wearing a mask and walking along listening to music, maybe even dancing. You see, Elijah was anemic, which meant he felt cold a lot of the time and often wore many layers to stay warm, including a mask on his face. And even the caller said they didn't think he was a danger. He was unarmed and committed no crime. But police in Aurora Colorado restrained him before he even had time to take his headphones out, put him in a chokehold and eventually intructed the parademics to inject him with an amount of the sedative ketamine that would subdue a man twice his size.

According to the Sentinel Colorado, "McClain struggled with officers for nearly 15 minutes — repeatedly sobbing and vomiting — before he was sedated with 500 milligrams of ketamine and loaded into an ambulance. He survived two heart attacks en route to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced brain dead three days later and died Aug. 30."

All three police officers involved claimed their body cameras mysteriously just fell off, but one officer can be heard intstructing another to "move your camera, dude," obviously trying to be sure the incident was not properly filmed. At another point an officer threatens to bring a dog to bite Elijah. Here is a transcription of some of Elijah's last words from those body cams while they slowly killed him.

"I can't breathe. I have my ID right here. My name is Elijah McClain. That's my house. I was just going home. I'm an introvert. I'm just different. That's all. I'm so sorry. I have no gun. I don't do that stuff. I don't do any fighting. Why are you attacking me? I don't even kill flies! I don't eat meat! But I don't judge people, I don't judge people who do eat meat. Forgive me. All I was trying to do was become better. I will do it. I will do better. I will do anything. Sacrifice my identity. I'll do it. You all are phenomenal. You are beautiful. And I love you. Try to forgive me. I am a mood Gemini. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Ow, that really hurt. You all are very strong. Team work makes the dream work... (crying).. oh I'm sorry. I just can't breathe correctly (proceeds to vomit from the pressure on his chest and neck)."

Elijah McClain should still be here today.

The officers responsible STILL have their jobs and no has been charged with his murder. Sign to demand justice for Elijah now!

After public outcry, the city of Aurora commissioned an independent investigation, but was forced to fire the lead attorney because not only was he not neutral — he was actually a former cop. They say they are now looking for a new, truly impartial investigator, but it's only because we spoke up. We need to keep demanding justice.

I just signed the petition: "Demand Justice For Elijah McCLain, Killed By Police Just For Walking Home" Will you join me in supporting this issue?

Incognito

If someone was breaking into your house, what would be the first number you called?

That has nothing to do with that toot, this guy was innocent, he was buying his brother an iced tea!! Does he deserve to be killed?

Police around he would not be here quick enough anyway so why bother calling. I don't have much to steal anyway, we are staying home a lot. I never go out at nigjht, chances are quite slim around here.

Fair enough, but what if it did happen?

I have lived in this town for 19 years, odds are it is not going to happen, guess I would ring the insurance company if I had one, I don't because i don't have much of value. Anyway this post was not about break in's. It is about injustice. Police need to stop killing people.

OK, no worries.

toot - if you are going to throw a red herring into the mix, the  least you can do is to explain why, since Incognito's post has nothing to do wth a "break in" or did I misread it?

I have signed this petition.

Thanks Lucca. Two things we agree on, getting there :)
