I really enjoyed this dish when I visited my sister in South Africa many moons ago. At the time she was living in a lovely little spot called Fish Hoek

Another thing was Rooibos tea...is a bit of an acquired taste but I don't mind it at all and healthwise is good for you.

this is a traditional Cape Malay dish

have tried it - very nice 

malays were brought to South Africa from South East Asia to work as slaves 

There  is now a vibrant Malay community in South Africa 

Did you try any of the exotic game meat BBQ? While you were there

Geez Radish that looks like my Mum's Potato Pie except it doesn't have any meat in it.
