Books I have read

I'm sure we all have favourite books we have read over the years, one of mine is Lord of the Rings, which I have read at least half a dozen times.A good book for me is when I become one of the characters and nothing else matters. There are so many books that I'm having trouble remembering them all and I've always thought the book is better than the movie...

Have just read an article about Dana Wilson who was Buster in  The Shiralee, she passed away earlier this year,so sad because she played such a good part.I loved that book and have read it many times.

Haven't read the book Shiralee Black Duck but saw the movie and really  enjoyed it. Another Australian movie I liked was the Sundowners.

By the way, I have finished reading The Potato Factory. So nice getting stuck into some light reading for a change and was really sorry when I reached the end!

Yes, lovely book black duck...so many of the actors/actresses leaving the earth...Now a word of warning...Dont get your sticky fingers all over your books..there is nothing librarians dislike more.. lol

.

Good morning ladies...where are you all hiding...guess it's big Sunday breakfast time!!

Love Sunday breakfasts...not having one today though...going out to lunch and want to fill up on their goodies!

Read any good books lately Black Duck? I have just started the second one in the Bryce Courtenay"s trilogy...Tommo and Hawk...have to hurry up with it now that Mari's finished the Potato Factory...she's hankering after this one!

Have a lovely Sunday!

Morning, oops afternoon Fleur,no I haven't done any reading lately, need to make time to get to the library and browse...I can spend hours looking for the right book,it usually jumps out at me,unless I have a specific title then I'm out pretty quick..but my problem when I get home is that I don't want to do anything but curl up and read.

Referring to your comment cranky about sticky fingers all over the books,I hate it when I've taken a library book home only to find that there is either a page missing or creased to mark a place or words underlined or squashed food sticking pages together...so inconsiderate...

Hello girls, a stunning day in Tassie today, too nice to be cooped up inside even with a great book. I have read Tommo and Hawke and the sequel, Fleur.i enjoyed them all. I have just started a old/ new book by Patricia Hill called Mango Hill.I say old/new book because i quite  often pick up books in the local opshop ,i read them then donate them back . Patricia is a great author having written many books based in Australia..I think you would enjoy her books..

Haven't read any of Patricia Hill's books Peanuts...but if her stories are based in Australia...then it stirs my interest. Haven't finished Tommo and Hawke yet..gosh, it's a long story! Enjoying it though.

Mari gave me a lovely book last year called Black Mulberries by Caitlin Davies...it's set in Botswana... it's just a lovely story and covers the lives of two families over 60 years. I just gave it to a ladies club and they're passing it around!

Sorry ladies have not popped in here for a while, i guess time gets away with us. Another overcast day in Tassie today so not much inclination to go out. I  am baking bread, i like to make my own, throwing every thing i can think of into it..lolI will ask the library here if they have that book Fleur, it does sound like a good read..Have you read any Wilber Smith books..he writes very well most stories based on South Africa..Enjoy your day whatever you get up to.

Peanuts, freshly baked bread, one of life's joys!!

Yes Ray i agree, i also make a mean fruit loaf so thick with figs, apricots, dates, sultanas, walnuts that it's a meal in it's self ,delicious toasted with lashings of real butter ,not to mention foccacia with olives ,anchovy and sun dried tomato..ummmmback to my book i think i'm making myself hungry...

That sounds just scrumptious Peanuts...I do envy people who can make lovely breads. I don't bother myself...because Mari is our treasured pastry maker and we all head to her house for goodies.

Haven't read any of Wilber Smith's books...will look out for them....but have finished Tommo and Hawke and have now passed it on to Mari!

I have an ebook reader and are hooked,The happiest refuge, Anh Do's biography is a good read, Also The Marcos Dynasty by Stirling seagrave,The Mill Children by Suzanne Marshall, Maude by Donna Foley Mabry, The romanovs by Virginia Cowles .All excellent reads. I was a huge Maeve Binchy fan i read all her books what a shame she passed away what a brillant talent she was
