Brave or foolish

A crocodile handler in Queensland was bitten on the hand during a feeding session, and nearly dragged into the water.

He is recovering in hospital, but may lose part of his hand.

Regardless of experience, something like this must happen sometime.

Is he brave or foolish?

Neither brave or stupid ... just got too self-confident having handled the crocs all his life.

I actually know Rob and have done for years, he is a brilliant ,dedicated showman ,has always been careful and loves his crocs like children,

The trouble is, even children bite when they get out of the bed the wrong side and feel ,dare I say "Cranky"..

also being a bit of a larakin, I'm sure he will appreciate it when I say..

He'll be back...he will just need a bit of a hand...

A speedy recovery Ron...:)

cranky, what you say may be true, but what about the death wish?

Tick, Tick, Tick..... :)

Prefer to ride a donkey myself, but I wish your friend a swift recovery Cranks.

I think he is a touch foolish --  Crocs are a darn sight stronger than he will ever neAND a lot quicker

Why do you do it?

Because I can..!

The catch cry of every male ever born..

I guess it evolves from the Stone Age PlanB..

"Just popping out to get something for dinner, I won't be long dear, I'll ride the dinosaur ,"...lol

I wish Rob all the best too -- yes some are just born wanting to live on the wild side and take risks -- I tend think b4 I act  myself ut know a few that are risk takers

I think Rob is both brave and foolish.

Apparently he has been bitten about 40 times by crocs, snakes and spiders.

It's certainly one way to get your kicks.

However, it takes only one slip  of concentration for the animal to get the upper hand.

I wish him a speedy recovery.

It only takes a second to lose concentration and an accident is bound to happen. Look what happened to Steve Irwin.

Yes HOLA and Steve was very good and knowledgeable -- with the wildlife -- but seems some people need this type of living on the edge and taking risks

Croc. probably hated him for years!  Being kept in captivity and "trawled out" for tourists however many times a day for "photo feeding sessions"!!

"Good onya Croc."  :-)   I'm with you on this one! lol lol - should have eaten ALL of him!!!   LOL

He's too tough to eat...

It tried it once and spat him out...!

.... always Crispy Clown Entree'  I guess???

Delicious and delightful...

They would all want some...lol

Neither Brave nor Foolish!

Showman are Risk Takers.....it is a necessary part of their Profession......and thus they inevitably get caught out taking too much risk.....or simply being in denial about skowing down with age!

I wish him well in his Re-Hab.....but suggest he retire and train up his replacement!

Everyone has to accept it.....when they reach their use by date!

Thought Rob Bredl's wildlife park had been shut down, went many years ago. Certainly hope he recovers well. Like most animal lovers he probably never thought of the risks.

Animal Lover????  What a joke!!!  - try - Animal Abuser !!!   Ugh!

Ugh back at you. YES ANIMAL LOVER.

Ugh, is  "intelligent"  fox lingo Banjo LOLOLOL

Hahahaha you got that right Reagan.

Lack of class - is 3 old blokes ganging up on a lady

A "lady"? you  must be joking.

Whatever you may think of her, you show yourself for who you are when you and the others gang up to attack foxy for your mutual amusement

And you are pathetic

Right back at you pete. Foxy is not allowed to insult people and think she can always get away with it, she's not two years old and has been indulging in this sort of behaviour for years.

Thanks Carlos - these "old men" (or Thea?) lol -   are nothing but hateful nasty bullies on this site!   No one is allowed an "opinion" they don't like!  Pathetic!!!

Go on catch it before it disappears, or you'll miss dinner LOLOLOL

Just another show-off businessman making money off the backs of these creatures trying to pass himself off as some sort of 'he-man crocodile whisperer'  - and agree Foxy the animal has probably hated him for years.

Interesting to read Claire Fryer's, Campaign Co-ordinator for PETA take on the incident. (Google it if your interested).

Surely we've moved on from tourists paying money to witness humans goading and harrassing captive animals in completely artificial environments i.e. zoos, circuses etc. etc.Believe if this bloke is such 'a great showman' why not learn juggling or trapezing etc.  and make a quid off his own talent and leave off the exploitation of wild creatures.

Like most Australians have lived in areas of crocodile infested waterways and struggle to find much appeal in these creatures,  but completely respect their dangerous uniqueness, and their place in the eco-system enough to leave them and their habitats alone.  Being 'lucky' can only last so long!!

P.S. Was sorry that Steve Irwin was killed as a relatively young man the way he was and with very young kids at the time,  but have to say and a personal opinion only - the bloke irritated the sh.te outta me the way he interacted with wildlife ...And sadly find Terri Irwin's personality  'ups' my personal irritation factor to the whole new level - but off topic and a whole other story.

But hope the Bredl wound heals and he moves onto something else and leaves the crocs in peace.

... agree with your post - however - doubt someone like Bredl will move on - he will just return to his "thriving tourist business" and probably abuse the crocs. even  more because of what happened to him!!

.... especially the croc. that bit him!!!

Two negative opinions in a sea of thousands of positive ones count for NOTHING

lol lol - well well - my guess would be that the "two negative opinions" come from far more highly intelligent people than perhaps yourself?  People far too caring and intelligent to pay to watch animals "abused" on a daily basis by some insensitive somewhat cruel and money hungry MORON!

Who cares what you think anyway?  I certainly don't!   L O L

Hahahaha..... then why on earth are you reading them then foxy?

just go with the flow and agree to disagree..

Now that's intelligence... :)

Bogans don't have "intelligence" Cranks and those two posters are the living examples.

Both Steve Irwin and Rob Bredl were and are fantastic with animals.

Last picture taken of Steve and his family. Great family and credit to Australia and admired around the globe.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but some just aren't worth reading..

I agree Banjo, lovely family ,great bloke.and foolish or not, both Steve and Rob did and do love their animals..

"We love them too...with a sprinkling of salt...lol"

Steve and Rob taught thousands of kids to love animals and handle them correctly Cranky. We need more animal handlers like those two in the world.

I certainly wouldn't mind living in the environment that those crocs live in..big fat chunks of meat and a luxury wildlife hotel, being waited on hand and foot...

It certainly beats slopping around in the mud and mosquitos searching for a few scrawny human beings to eat... lol

yep, no animal should have to put up with red bristle moulting hair stuck in their teeth LOLOLOLOLOL. It's a good thing they don't eat birds.

So - If Rob's wildlife park was close by, and was open for free admission to see the show, how many of us would go?

NOt for me, thanks Ted

nor me,    i agree he should have left have left the croc in peace,   as said,   to many animals are used for the 'ENJOYMENT'   ? of the public,     like the poor dolphils at sea world,    and the whales,  leave them where they belong,   in the sea,    have no sympathy for this man,    or anyone else that exploits animals for money,   had no time for STEVE IRWIN either,   he used to taunt the crocs,   even held his young baby over one,    as if to say,   come get me,     if the croc HAD of jumped up and took his child,    they would have blamed the croc,    idiots.
