Centrelink paying back money they owe you
Centrelink is chasing almost 15,000 Australians for debts owed.
Sounds familiar, right? Only this time, the debts are owed by Centrelink.
Services Australia has confirmed that around $697.1 million had been paid back to 402,000 Australians as of 26 October.
Services Australia is still trying to locate around 14,600 people so it can repay monies owed.
Around 3300 people died before they were able to get refunds.
The agency has tried to contact the people multiple times through various methods and it will keep trying, as their is no time limit for them to get in touch in order to be refunded.
“If they contact us we will process their debt,” said Services Australia chief Rebecca Skinner.
Centrelink robo-debt scheme is restarts as of Monday, with 'improved' algorithms that no longer use income averaging as the sole proof for a possible debt.
Are you or were you owed any money from Centrelink?
With the deeming rates what they are and the interest rates zero everybody should be getting a refund from Centrelink. My investments are actually earning around $1,500 a year. Centrelink acknowledge them as being nearly $7,000 a year due to Deeming, thus a way lower pension. Thank you very much Centrelink. A sinking Jacka.
