Cramp

I recently read in a self sufficiency magazine about a cure for cramp. My husband has suffered for over 60 years and he decided to give it a go and has found it a success.
The cure involves tying a piece of string around your ankle and when symptoms return, use another piece on the opposite ankle.
The hint did not state if the string should be the old yype or not, but my husband uses artificial string and it is a great improvement.

Sandsford try putting some Camphor in the bed under the bottom sheet helps a lot and also take some Magnesium tablets that helps as well

Great advice and also many people swear by Vicks Vapour Rub on the soles of the feet fairly thickish and cotton sox over the top and into bed and never have cramp or restless legs again (IF ONLY IT DID WORK FOR RESTLESS LEGS) but albeit so many have great relief with Vicks and the Magnesium Tablets I am not that lucky.

Have to go out for hours today to get away from the fumes of the new tops being put on the kitchen. Our builder was not well yesterday so we have had to wait. Not to worry something to look forward to. I was SO wanting to make Peterseaford's cake but o.k. not o'nite but it will happpen lol. Lovely new oven will be christened with it. Either tonight or tomorrow.

To Ice it with thick icing would be decadent hey Peter S.? but psst like Christmas hey?

Be good (not quite the need to be careful these days is it) lol pregnancy a thing of the past :(

Still a few ladies over 60 have had babies lately "Hey my Peter would you be interested"? Ouch ouch ouch no need to throw stuff.....:( Who ever said the 5 we have was ever enough anyway :(

Phyl.

I was told that a cake of soap in the bed would be the answer. Unfortunately, because soap has a whole lot of fat, my dog burrowed down, because she could smell it. She ate it. I've found the only answer is to lean against a wall and stretch. Then to walk up and down the hall a couple of times.

Do try the Camphor Bev --it really does help--when I worked in aged Care I always bought some Camphor and put it in the bed for those that were troubled with cramps and now I put it in my own bed

Quite a while since this has been visited. But, I consulted my doctor yesterday, and he recommended that I use Magnesium tablets, with just a bit of Zinc. I know that quinine has worked previously for me, but because I've got a sort of strange white blood cell disorder, (which he hasn't yet quite sorted out), he would not allow me have them any more. I tried the camphor, but found that I really was disturbed by the smell - maybe because I'm deaf, my others senses have come to the fore. Trying the Magnesium and Zinc now. Just hope it works.

Yes the Magnesium does work--I am also taking that along with other things for my bones and it does work--I tried the pure Mag" but that gives you "the Trots" as it is same as Epsom Salts

Quinine always worked for me.....I took one pill a night for eight or nine consecutive nights and didnt have a problem with cramps for months. You used to be able to buy it over the counter, but I understand that you now need a prescription. If you are into self-mediicating, Indian tonic water is a good source of quinine (adding a little gin can also be quite theraputic) :-)

Yes, my doctor did mention, that a gin and tonic could possibly work, and should I dare to mention a brand name Bitter lemon drink? It also contains just that trifle of the quinine. Just trying the Magnesium at the moment, don't want to do a Queen Mother!
