CRUMMY APPLE PIE

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup rolled oats

3 tbsp. cornstarch
1 1/2 cups cold water

Combine flour, brown sugar and oatmeal.

Cut in butter with pastry cutter until mixture resembles small peas.

Put 2/3 of crust in bottom of 13 x 9 inch pan, spreading evenly.

Spread apple slices over crust and set aside.

In saucepan, mix sugar, apple pie spice or cinnamon, and cornstarch.

Place over medium heat and gradually add cold water, stirring constantly.

Bring to a boil.

Immediately pour over apples.

Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Let cool and cut into squares.

I saw this on the internet the other day and I made it this morning..a treat for my grandson when he comes to lunch shortly...
