Forecasters have warned Cyclone Debbie (centre) could intensify after it was upgraded to a Category 4 storm just hours before it makes landfall on Tuesday morning. The Bureau of Meteorology upgraded the system at 8pm AEST on Monday as authorities urged 25,000 people in Mackay in North Queensland (bottom right) to evacuate in case of a tidal surge. BoM forecaster Brett Harrison said the cyclone could develop into a Category 5 system. 'At this stage we can't rule out a category five system during the coming hours,' Mr Harrison said. Cyclone Debbie is expected to hit the coast just south of Bowen at 8am Tuesday ahead of a high tide at 9.44am.
Cyclones
I have only been in one cylcone on a boat three days out of Fremantle in Feb 1954 on our way to the UK. At the age of nine I thought it great fun, so did a few other children. Our parents were in their cabins, sick.
Now I read this Cat 4 Cyclone about to hit Queensland.
Monster Cyclone Debbie upgraded to a Category 4 storm just hours before it makes landfall - as 25,000 residents are urged to evacuate Queensland city amid predictions it could get WORSE
Bit of an overview.

The BOM says we will get the aftermath here (GC) tomorrow, Friday/Saturday. Have altered some plans accordingly. Family due to fly to NZ Saturday from GC, should be 'all over Red Rover' by then hopefully.
