Decision making in retirement

Older Australians born between 1946 and 1961 are entering retirement. Of the more than 3,000 participants in our own survey on retirement, 43% of those leading the way, between the ages of 55 and 64, were already retired.

One of our members, John van Holsteyn, affiliated with La Trobe University, is undertaking further research on how these older Australians make the decision to retire (if they actually make the decision as some  are forced into it).
What do they expect from their retirement? How happy are they with the outcomes? What could be done to make the retirement process easier?
