Even the robots are scamming us now!

I haven't had this one before.

An ignored call from a private number left a message on my answering machine. A robotic sounding voice told me that my IP address had been compromised 'in a number of countries' and they would need to reset the IP.

"Just press 1 to connect with the technician."

I don't really understand what pressing 1 while listening to an answering machine message would achieve, but I'm not about to find out.

There is no way I would be pressing anything -- Leonie -- I had an email the other day threating me -- that if I did not pay up with $1100 US in 24 hours ---I would have all sorts of things happen --- I have the email printed out and have shown it to all I know -- and it will be there for my back up

These scammers are getting sneakier by the miin

Press one if you are gullible..press two if you need further convincing or simply stay on the line and listen to the soothing sounds of baroque music.

COmputers are programed.  Pressing 1 is a way of saving money but people would normally be even less inclined to do this than deal with an offshore operator.

Just hang up.
