Feros Care invites you to write your next chapter

It’s that time of year again when brilliant writers and thinkers and all those who love a good story descend on the Byron Writers Festival. Feros Care will be there as a major sponsor for the fifth year in a row. Since Byron Bay is where Feros Care was “born”, as always, we like to get involved in local events and so do the people in our residential care villages in the area.

Last year, three residents from Byron Village attended the festival. Hugh Webster, 86 years young, told us he’s enjoyed the event for the last three years.

“I just love it,” he said. “It keeps my brain cells working!” And of course Hugh will be there again keeping an ear out for great storytelling and his favourite authors in 2017.

Jennene Buckley, Feros Care CEO, said events like these remind us of how valuable it is to be within the wider community, no matter what age you are.

“Our residents participate in a lot of community programs, including this festival,” Jennene said.

“And this year’s promises to be even bigger and better. Feros Care is dressing the authors’ book signing tent, which we’re very excited about! And we will be launching our ‘Write Your Next Chapter’ competition.”

The idea behind the competition comes from Feros Care’s approach to caring for seniors. Jennene said, “It’s people’s next chapter, their next adventure in life. Being a senior can be really fulfilling and we’re there to help people live fuller, more enriched lives. Just ask Hugh!”

Festival Director, Edwina Johnson says “We are delighted to have Feros Care on board as a Major Partner of Byron Writers Festival for the fifth year. We’re particularly excited that they are revamping the interior of our book signing tent this year, in addition to sponsoring one of our large marquees where festival sessions take place all weekend. Long-standing partnerships such as these are extremely important to our ongoing viability, and Feros Care's passion for creativity and community makes them a perfect fit for us."

When you’re at the Byron Writers Festival, keep a look out for the official author’s book signing tent. It’s the first time the big 9m x 6m marquee has ever been dressed. And Feros Care was honoured to be granted the opportunity.

Feros Care believes it will create a unique experience for festival goers. Lots of people will experience the exciting atmosphere created in the book signing tent as there’s always long queues of people waiting to have their favourite authors personally sign their books.

While you’re at the book-signing tent, make sure you get your free bookmark at the counter which tells you how to enter the Write Your Next Chapter competition. The competition is open for the month of August through till 11 September.

You’re invited to create a book title that best describes the life you most want to live. And you’ll have the chance to win the book lover’s ultimate prize - a weekend away to next year’s Byron Writers Festival, including flight vouchers and accommodation! So, start daydreaming and enter the competition at www.feroscare.com.au/yournextchapter.

All by myself , I'm a wallaby ...

The Senior Dilettantes Guide

Subtitle Polymath for Late bloomers

Chapter One

Get entangled with entanglement .

Chapter Two

STAY

       Alive

       Healthy

       Wealthy

       Wise

As people get older most have regrets of some sort..a natural part of life. In retrospect some may have wished they have chosen a different path in their career..travelled to more  exotic places…however it’s never  too late to do many things on a much smaller scale and that’s where writing the next chapter of one’s life comes into its own..A chance to put down on paper what you hope to do in the future…

Studies show that expressive writing can be a great way to improve both your mental and physical health. Expressive writing has also been linked to improved mood.. well-being and reduced stress levels for those who do it regularly..

How about a couple of quotes from two very successful people who are secret writers…

Warren Buffett has described writing as a “key way of refining my thoughts.”

Richard Branson once said “my most essential possession is a standard-sized school notebook,”.. which he uses for regular writing.

If you have a dormant writing urge lurking beneath the surface...go for it and enter the competition..at the very least.. you'll feel wonderful after you've written your thoughts...

The Senior Diletantes Guide

and

Any way the wind blows carryon.

Leo didn't mention you are restricted to six words .

Think you pinched my idea Brocky via Raphy's comment re "Anyway the wind blows ... carry on." As per your other topic.

But of course ... carry on anyway the wind blows ... and if you win, "Av a great weekend".

:) Your very own Bohemian Rhapsody so to speak if it comes to fruition.

If Brocky wins , you and I should get a cut

True true R&R all fair in love and war ..

you would think with 200,000 members and average age say 60 that is 12 million years of life .

Someone besides me would have a title of a. book that they want to become .

You might note that as we are restricted to six words that I cleverly made carry on

one .

must say can't follow Raphs .

"If Brocky wins , you and I should get a cut."

Exactly Raphael !!

"Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?"

Hope Brocky comes to the party re shared rights.
