First Lady 'Silver Fox' dies at 92
Known as 'everybody's grandmother', Barbara Bush, the 37th First Lady of the United States, has died at the age of 92.
She had suffered a number of long illnesses including heart and Graves disease, which is a thyroid condition.
She had recently been in and out of hospital but last week announced in a statement she would instead return home to "focus on comfort care".
Barbara Pierce was born 8 June 1925 in Rye, New York. She married George H.W. Bush on 6 January 1945 when she was just 19.
They had six children, including George W. Bush, who became the 43rd US President. Her husband nicknamed her 'Silver Fox' after she gave up dyeing her iconic mane of grey hair.
Mrs Bush's triple-strand, false pearl necklace sparked a national fashion trend when she wore it to her husband's inauguration in 1989. The pearls became synonymous with the First Lady, who later said she selected them to hide the wrinkles in her neck.
Do you have any recollections of the Bush family matriarch's time at the White House?
She had a good run and from all accounts, she should have been president and not her husband. Shame it wasn't trumpie the rabbit who went to the happy hunting ground.
