RECALLS from all manufacturers 2017

People are being warned of a major nationwide recall involving six batches of NovoPen Echo insulin cartridge holders.

Authorities believe there is a risk that the insulin cartridge holders may crack or break if exposed to chemicals in certain cleaning agents.

“Using a cracked or broken insulin cartridge holder could result in the device delivering a smaller dose of insulin than expected, which can lead to serious health consequences including hyperglycaemia (high blood sugar),” a recall notice by the Therapeutic Goods Administration reads.

The affected batches include:

NovoPen Echo insulin cartridge holders are used for insulin treatment by people with diabetes.

Novo Nordisk says that if people clean the pens as described in the User Guide, there is no reason that cracking of the cartridge holder will occur.

“Please note that there are no reported problems with the insulin being administered by these devices and that cracking and breaking should not occur if the device is cleaned in accordance with the instructions in the User Guide.”

If you or someone you provide care for uses NovoPen Echo insulin cartridge holders, check the batch numbers on any devices you have to see if they are affected by the recall.

If you have a device from an affected batch, you can register your details at Novo Nordisk Australia(link is external) or Important safety information regarding NovoPen® Echo® and NovoPen® 5(link is external) to arrange to receive a replacement NovoPen Echo insulin cartridge holder for each of your affected devices.

This is in the UK, but so many of us go over there for holidays I thought it worth creating a new Thread for our wellbeing.

it was in the news last week,   and again today,   that VALIUM tablets and some blood pressure tabsm   were being recalled,    as some of the blister packs had been tampered with,   not much publicity for such drugs  that are widely taken,        would have thought it would have been front page news,     as so many [eople take them,

Hi Cats.

Yes!  I remember that last night on the news and forgot about it. Thanks for bringing this up.  Yes I would have thought it would be more prominent in the news.

Faulty airbag at centre of recall to blame for death of Sydney man

SMH – JULY 21 2017

Last week's fatality is the latest airbag related incident impacting Australian drivers. Following the death of the Sydney man last week, Takata airbags have now been attributed to 17 deaths worldwide.

Consumer advocacy group Choice are now calling for motorists who drive specific Toyota, Mazda, BMW, Subaru, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, Jeep, Lexus and Ford models to check in with manufacturers and stay across Product Safety Australia's latest consumer updates.
