Funding to get a vehicle for a Disabled Driver

I am on a wife's pension and totaled my car 5 months ago. Insurance did not cover a replacement vehicle. I have my cervical & lumber spine fused and I also have knee problems. I need to get another vehicle, it doesn't have to be brand new, but I should be able to sit upright in it and it has to be an automatic.

I found a vehicle I can drive but cannot get funding to purchase it. No bank or finance company will lend me the $13,000 to buy it.

Does anyone in this community know how I can fund the purchase of this vehicle?

I am slowly going out of my mind as I am now housebound when I cannot get a family member to supply transport.

By the way, I am unable to access public transport.

Sorry to hear of your plight Star, I have no idea but have you asked centre link ?

Centrelink will only give an advance of just over $900. $13,000 is out of their league.

I heard of Crowd funding being done by people in your situation but not sure how to go about it ... perhaps if you google it or ask your family to do it for you ???

Thanks for the idea Abby.

I will definitely look into it.

Have you thought of contacting red cross for transport, not sure if it's available where you live but in Tasmania they provide a volunteer service that takes you wherever you wish to go then picks you up and returns you home at a prearranged time or when you ring them, they charge $5.00 for the entire outing.. much cheaper than taxi's and it would save paying insurance rego etc.. if you still want your own transport this might work in the meantime .

I need out of hours transport. My daughter has Fibromyalgia and has severe allergies. When I need to get her to hospital in a hurry, it is quicker for me to drive her than getting an ambulance.

Star Trekker - try "Rams".

Rams only does mortgages

You may have to pass the link out amonst your friends and relatives to put on their social pages etc to get some sort of advertizing ?

Perhaps approach some companies with it ??

If you have mobility issues, in NSW you can get half price taxi vouchers. Transport for NSW runs the scheme. Your daughter may be eligible too. Your doctor fills out the forms.

In Victoria, it is called the Multi Purpose Taxi program
