Gadget can reveal your food's nutritional value

If you suffer from diabetes, cardiovascular disease or anything else which impacts your dietary requirements, you'll know how frustrating it can be to keep track of what you consume, particularly while eating out.

SCiO is a little gadget that uses spectroscopy: the study of how light reflects off matter to determine the molecular composition. The science of spectroscopy dates back hundreds of years, but this is the first time it has been made available in such a small device.

SCiO is due to be released in December, but app developers have already started finding uses for the device, such as DietSensor which uses it to determine the amount of fat, sugar, alcohol etc. that is present in foods.

DietSensor won an innovation award at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier in the year for their new app which uses SCiO to acurately track your daily consumption.

Do you have trouble accurately keeping track of your diet? Would you use SCiO and DietSensor?

Seems almost too good to be true

How great this will be for a person who is diabetic or wants to loose weight or just wants to live healthily.

Does it also tell you whether or not it has any possible allergans in it?

For some they may be more ilife threatening and important than sugar or salt

How much will we be paying for it?

Do believe it is in US Dollars coming from a US article.
