Google Home Puzzled

Hi there,

Can anyone help me out here? Disabled, it was suggested by OT I get a Google Home. However, we use Apple iMac, iPad (x2), iPhone, Microsoft Windows Laptop, and Huwei Phone - so do these devices all connect with Google Home? Do we have to change everything and all information to Google Home? Because I would find this difficult?

Has anyone got a Google Home, and if so what do you use it for and what software do you use and what devices do you use?

I am concerned she has things muddled.

Thanks,

Bel

Hiya Bel,

Most devices are compatible with google home. My advice for what it's worth, google home can be a pain in the ---. Do you really need one? If you think you do, is there someone who can help you out if things go awry?

They have done a deal with Apple so for the extras an "i" device is best. However Google Home is happy to chat anytime. hehe

I do find it very limited. I can't get the tides or share prices etc etc. When I am helping the kids with Maths it continually pipes up and says, "Sorry, I can't help with that." I am never sure what I said that made it think I asked it a question???

It is always good to remember that even with the microphone switched off Google is ALWAYS listening.

Thanks - I think you have helped me make up my mind. Not one positive out of two but OT's young and doesn't get my needs.

No way would I have one of these useless items in my place. They do nothing to make life easier and its just the start of constant surveilance by "Big Brother" or is that "Little Sister"

Does anyone really want a device which listens in to ALL your conversation in your home and may be able to transmit it to a  third party?

Anyhow if it was to be of any use at all, it would require a complete design of ALL items in your home to be connected for remote control by this device. Wouldn't that make a lovely target for hackers?

You know I speak very softly and sometimes mumble. I can no longer physically write. Problems are about if mobile rings (no longer have a landline):

1 - holding mobile hurts (physical pain)

2 - can't wear earphones as my ears are too little inside and they hurt or fall out, tried bigger ones that go fully over ears and they cause vertigo with the air pressure

3 - if the person ringing me or person I rang wants to make an appointment, or gives me another phone number, I can't physically write it down or check. Unless I turn on the computer. Hence this is why suggestion was made for this.

4 - I thought a clip on earphone would suffice, but then still have to work out the calendar and be able to type.

5 - huh - I don't know.
