Grapes that taste like fairy floss go on sale

The first Australian crop of a new non-genetically modified grape has hit the shelves and by all reports it tastes just like fairy floss.

Created in America by combining plants from different parts of the world to cross breed the new grape, you can expect to pay $6 to $8 a kilo  for the grape that will be available only the next four weeks in Australia.

Most importantly, according to Dietitian and nutritionist Elissa Robins, they are good for you.

"The price point is a little bit higher, and that's down to the fact that there are not huge production numbers," said Australian farmer Mr Greenhalgh.

Have you tried the new grape? Did you like them?

Do not like the looks or price of them

If they taste like fairy floss that would mean they have a high sugar content. I will stick to ordinary grapes.

I would prefer to buy ham that tastes like ham instead of manufactured crushed coloured crap. They must chop it into lumps with glue and stuff it in a drain pipes to get it round.

Gammon is real the stuff.

Are they Aussie grown?   if not I do not want to know about them if there are would like to try them

They are Aussie grown.

"Mildura-based grower Adrian Caia planted the first 50 acres of cotton candy grapes about four years ago."

Thanks Drew -- I am a sweet tooth love to try these

Isn't it strange that they went to the trouble of doing a special program asking people to PLEASE stop using plastic and the retailers etc are now using more than ever  -- everything is now wrapped or sold in it ---

BTW Drew this thread does NOT work

Might be an idea to send an email to ben@yourlifechoices.com.au who started the topic and is the Digital Editor, Drew may not read this message you left here for him ???

Thanks Suze will do

I prefer grapes to taste like grapes - if I want candy Floss I will buy candy floss!!

Our grand kids love grapes the way they are now anyway.

If the grapes can taste sweet and still do me good I would prefer them to the grape flavour

A cup of ordinary grapes contains around 62 calories and 15 grams of natural sugar.. a cup of cotton candy grapes has approximately 100 calories and 28 grams of sugar. Young children are being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. What adults do is their business..but..feeding these “grapes”  to children is only adding to future problems.

Children should be exposed to all food tastes and not have adults disguising foods. As children we had to eat what was placed in front of us unless there was an allergic reaction..same with our children. I liked cotton candy when I was a child.but I also liked grapes and I  don't like one tasting like the other..

Well I am not feeding them to Kids I am well into adulthood --

I do agree with you re Kids being exposed to all food tastes though Sophie

I am very adverse to any type of sour taste -- sadly

I wasn't referring to your post PlanB..sorry if you thought that..

I was speaking generally..

No worries Sophie

Grapes that taste like cotton candy and apples that taste like grapes. Grapple is popular in the US, where else?

Image result for picture of a grapple apple
