Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds dies, aged 82

Burt Reynolds, one of Hollywood’s most iconic leading actors with a career spanning more than five decades, had died aged 82.

The star of Smokey and the Bandit and Deliverance passed away in Florida his manager announced on Friday morning.

Reynolds had been working on Quentin Tarantino’s film about the Charles Manson murders, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.

The famous actor was nominated for an Oscar in Boogie Nights and had been battling health issues in recent years and was placed in intensive care in 2013 for treatment of flu symptoms.

In 2010, he was rushed to hospital for what was classified as a “planned bypass operation”, after his arteries were found to be closed during a physical examination.

Reynolds cited director John Boorman’s Oscar-nominated 1972 Deliverance as his best film.

What do you think was his best film?

Another one.  I agree that Deliverance was his best... Jon Voight was good in that, too as well as the lesser cast.

I agree about Deliverance - a good movie all round with a great cast. Thanks for the link to the 'duelling banjos' - enjoyed it all over again.

Great actor my favourites ,yes definitey Deliverance and Smokey and the Bandit. RIP

Sad loss of a lovely man.   I think his two best movies were "Deliverance" and the all time great "Smokey and the Bandit"

Go gently into the night and rest peacefully Burt.   Your presence and sincerity will be missed.....you were an example to many young actors today who dont cut the mustard.

AS far as i remember,   DELIVERENCE was the only movie i saw of his,    , enjoyed that,    reading about him in todays paper,he seemed like someone who loved life,   and enjoyed his life here,   SAID his only true love was SALLY FIELD,    although he never married her,    but did have two other marriages,  which both ended in divorce,    had one adopted son,       R,I,P BURT,

Yes RIP Mate - they dont make hunks like you these days. Smokey and the Bandit is one I like him in best.

Come to that they dont make movies in Hollywood like that thee days either.

Maybe because today its the actors of yestryear making them or remaking them

Never thought much of Burt Reynolds as an actor - did mostly B rate movies.

RIP

Sally Field was abused by her film star stepfather before suffering the heartache of having to endure her famous lover Burt Reynolds - a drug-taking bully  Hidden agony of America’s sweetheart: Sally Field was abused by her film star stepfather

Burt Reynolds died only last week and Sally Field says she is glad he was spared her revelations, apparently including drug-fuelled sex and undergoing a secret abortion in Mexico when she was only 17. The sex symbol superstar actor probably wouldn't have been overjoyed to learn that the woman he adored equated their relationship with the one she had had with a paedophile stepfather, either.
