How will the Age Pension changes affect your retirement?
Earlier this week, YourLifeChoices was the first to reveal the changes that will take place to the Age Pension from 20 March 2018.
While there will be a boost to the fortnightly pension payments, as well as to Newstart recipients, it's not a lot. Considering the rapid rise in the cost of living and to rent rates around the nation, it may not even make much difference.
In fact, we'd like to hear from you just how this increase will affect your retirement.
So, we have a few questions we'd like you to answer, should you feel comforatble doing so.
1. What will you do with the extra money?
2. Do you think it's time for a more significant rise to the Age Pension?
3. Rent Assistance has risen by $1.80 per fortnight. Is this enough to cover the rising cost of accommodation?
Just to note that, because we value your opinion, we may use some of these comments to add colour to future content.
The amount we will get isn't worth the worry. Sure, it is good to get something, but when it is so small, what can we buy with the miserable increase? Not even a nice cappachino coffee once a week. It is about time federal governments get serious about the aged pension and start looking to implement a universal pension for everyone. New Zealand has the model for our government to follow. Just think, how nice it would be to get rid of Centrelink forever sticking their nose into aged citizens'personal business. As for $3 Shorten, he can just go and jump into the nearest lake. His idea of abolishing the return on our miserable number of shares is just pure lunacy and poorly thought through. But what can one expect from a hard-nosed union man who has never really worked hard for a crust?
