Makes sense, probably save some money etc

Take a look at the change to the Bereavement Allowance for those newly bereaved after it starts, it looks to me a sneaky way of shifting them onto Newstart straight away, what if they are on a Disability Pension? At the bottom of the page it goes into the detail.

it will be the rate of Breavement payment that is changing, instead of the triple the age pension rate it will be triple the Job Seeker payment rate. Proably save a few bucks.

You must be working for the Gov.... is that your STANDARD answer for EVERYTHING...."....save a few bucks..." well soon after the Government of the day will have sucked all the money they can out of Welfare....and made us ALL poverty stricken....then what!? Who will they DARE to look to take money off! Hmm I know of ALOT of OAPs that grab they pensions fornightly, go to the pokies and run out of funds and then run to the charities for food etc vouchers to get them through the next fornight until their next pokies day....these people are 70 years and over....! Perhaps the OAPs should be barred from pokies venues and take the weight off the charities that are trying feed and look after people that really live $ to $ everday! AND THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE of what i hear about!

Did you actually read the article grumpy? No one will get less money (some will even be 'grandfathered')  but the system will be streamlined.  Your monika is well chosen clearly.

The welfare card is coming for the OAPs too. Just another tax payer trying to save a few bucks, not a plant, put your tinfoil hat back on.

The wellfare card is run by Indue which is run by members of the Liberal party and they get about $10,000 a card nothing this goverment does is for the people when are some of you people going to take off your blinkers and grow up

I'm all for streamlining the system. From the article no-one will be disadvantaged so what is the problem?

Sounds like Australia is slowly but surely moving towards the UK Universal Credit system. I've been wondering for some time when that would occur...

First time I heard about this, I guess they will be waiting until after Christmas to tell everyone, if they do at all.

Interesting it will be called JobSeeker Payment instead of Newstart, guess that reflects that a lot of people do not get a newstart in life at all.

Elizzy, and we can all read how the UK Universal Credit System does not work for the people it is meant to be helping!

I thought that the only change not done in this legislation a few years ago was changing the name from "Newstart" to "Job Seeker". Old news.
