If on a diet don't read

Yesterday was in Coles;  bought a tub of this at half price.

OMG...what a mistake....raced back today to buy two more tubs before they go off special.

Do not buy...it is sooooooooo addictive.

I LOVE ice cream always have -- have been after the home mad recipe that I used to make way back in the 50s know I used to make it then half freeze it then beat it again till it doubled in size -- anyone know what it was?

I don't know about that ice cream PlanB..however...I don't like creamy ice cream and sometimes I buy a plain vanilla ice cream..allow it to melt..then whip it  and refreeze..ice crystals form..making it double in size and taste like home made..

I love it..no one else seems to care for it...

I do like the creamy stuff Thea

Plan B -  I think that's the Ice Cream Mum used to make for us. It was made with Carnation  Milk cold out of the fridge, then she added Gelatine and icing sugar and Vanilla Essence then whipped it up. Then she put it into freezer and when slightly thicker she would take it out and whip it again until it doubled in size. It was the best ice cream out. It beats all the ones on the market today. I think the recipe is still on the Carnation Milk cans.

HOLA,     IS THIS THE ONE YOU WERE LOOKING FOR,    i made it all the time when i worked at the childrens creche,    money was always tight so no shop bought ice cream,   this is simple,   1 CAN EVAPORATED MILK,         2 TABP,  SUGAR.     1 TEASPOON GELATINE,    DISSOLVED IN QUARTER CUP OF HOT WATER.           CHILL CAN TILL MILK IS VERY COLD,    POUR INTO A CHILLED MIXING BOWL,    BEAT UNTIL THICK,     ADD SUGAR,   VANILLA,   AND COOLED GELATINE,   BEAT WELL AGAIN,     POUR INTO FREEZING TRAYS,  [MAKES TWO LARGE TRAYS,      HOPE THIS HELPS,    hve a great one for a FLUMMERY ,   made with jelly crystals if you want it,   it is lovely,

I don't have the recipe PlanB but if you do a Google search I am sure you will find it there...only problem is having to wade through them all :)

Do you remember if it was made using Carnation milk??

Radish, I have Googled it but can not remember if it was Carnation OR Condensed milk and have looked at all on the net and NONE say to half freeze and re-beat

CATS -  Yep that's the Ice Cream Mum always made for us. That takes me back to happy memories of days gone by. I must admit I never eat ice cream now, not for the past 20 years, I don't like the taste of it, too many chemicals. Thanks anyway.

Rads ... original post 'If on a diet don't read"

Unfortunately I did read > bought same > have already devoured two extreeeeemely generous portions.

Bliss on a stick … will never buy again due to its ‘mental-will destruction capabilities' in my case.

LOL R-n-R....it is just gorgeous isn't it  LOL.

It is on special again this week at IGA here in WA....was unable to buy the Salted Caramel last week when it was on special at Coles so had to settle for another flavour Caramel Honey Macadamia (bought two of them..hubby loved ice cream).

Will let you know whether it is as good as the salted caramel. ;)

Rads ... yeeess ... it is gorgeous.

Sadly my waisline isn't.

Caramel Honey Macadamia ... looking forward to your critique!!

I read somewhere that if you just have a spoonful that is all you need to satisy your craving for whatever you crave....obviously that is someone with a lot more willpower than I will ever have LOL>

Here's an Icecream..... some Monday nights we travel half an hour so my hubby can have one of thes....

Deanna, do a google search on "biggest ice creams".   Your mind will boggle with what comes up.

R-n-R....reporting on the Caramel Honey Macadamia ice cream....just as nice as the first one.   In fact I cannot choose which is the better  but if I HAD to choose I would go the salted caramel.

That said I "may" have to work my way through all the different flavours below just to make sure!  ;)

Thanks Rads ... well that's disheartening news LOL ... like you I may have to buy another one to try when this one is finished.

Just finished the Murray River Salted Caramel SIGH/SOB.

Left the empty container on the kitchen bench ... now the smell has permeated the kitchen. Such a rich aroma.
