When it comes to iconic Australian drama, few series will be remembered as fondly as They Flying Doctors. Originally conceived as a mini-series in 1985, the concept's popularity saw it return as an ongoing series the following year and it remained on Australian screens for nine seasons. Set in the fictional outback town of Cooper's Crossing, The Flying Doctors followed the day-to-day-lives, romances and dramas of the RFDS' doctors, nurses, pilots and base staff.

NEW Jewellery, paintings, couture clothing, books and furniture are among the items which have been passed down through the double Oscar-winner's family. Leigh, inset, died in 1967, aged just 53, in London, after suffering from tuberculosis. Items going under-the-hammer, at Sotheby's in London, include Leigh's personal copy of the Gone With The Wind novel given to her by its author Margaret Mitchell and expected to fetch up to £7,000; Leigh's 1961 evening dress designed by Stiebel in pink, left, her Gone With The Wind' film script, top right, and a gold ring given to Hollywood Icon by her husband Laurence Olivier is also up for auction and expected to fetch £600, bottom right.
