Police shot a knife-wielding man outside the UK Houses of Parliament after he stabbed an officer.

Plan B are you suggesting that we do not help Iraq destroy ISIS . But leave them in control of cities and Towns. To commit their barbaric acts.

No not at all Brocky but there are so many innocent people being killed that have nothing to do with this mess the world is in and we,  the USA and the British have invaded and killed in so many countries so often it is beyond a joke -- so many countries we should have NEVER gone to war with.

I guess what I am saying too is they can spend TRILLIONS to kill but just a few cents to help people.    Wars make a LOT of money for a few people.

PB,

I doubt there is a conflict anywhere in the world where there wouldn't be some one making a good quid out of it.

SD

Certainly Trump would agree with you Plan B .

He feels the American Txpayers have spent trillions in the Middle East for no result Theresa May's speech to the Reublicsns makes good reading .She says the days of interfering in other countries to impose out values is over .

Oh boy yes Plan B.

I seem to recall a certain vice President who made a lot of $ in war, Greeks shipping magnates made billions out of war.   It is big business this war.

If Bush and Blair had not stuck their noses into Iraq we would be a safer world......

The Tribes in the Middle East have been fighting eachother for a thousand years and will continue.

That is how Saddam Hussein managed to keep the peace.  While most of us didn't like the way he did it, I have to say he knew his own people and knew how to control them.  While he controlled them we did not have the problems and terror we have today.

If we can't be sure of changing things for the better we should not interfere. I have spoken to a few Iraqees who say they actually felt safer under Hussein, as he kept up law and order.

Yes Ann and don't forget John Howard -- he was quick to follow idiot Bush into war too,  they all should be had up for war crimes.

I agree re what you said about Saddam too

Saddam was a murderouse thug .

He led his people into a war with Iran where millions died

he invaded Kuwait .

He was from a small religiouse group who murderef others including the Marsh Arabs and Kurds who he used poison gas on .

He fired Scud rockets supplied by Russia into Israel

Should we have had the second gulf war . Probably not , after the first Gulf war which was supported by 29 countries to liberate Kuwait . We imposed a no fly zone over the Kurd area and southern Iraq .

Yes Brocky Saddam was a horrid bloke evil as,  but it seems there has been so much more evil done even after his murder.

Yes Plan B looking at History in the rear view mirror is interesting but speculation .

Would Britain when it stood alone without US and facing the might of Germany and USSR who were allies been better off letting Communists and Nazis and Fascists fight it out and stayed like Ireland Neutral and US at the time .

Yes Ex PS.

It would need some very strong people to keep those tribes in order.

Regarding the War Brocky, wasn't it a case of what is happening now?

The Sunnis v Shiites....[Saudi in one corner and Iran in the other]

Look at the Arabian pininsular!   [Yemen]  another tribal festering...

Yes Ann I believe you are correct .

Both countries are wealthy and spreading their gospel world wide .

i agree with Trump and Theresa May .

We are better off out of it ,

Plan B When I say Britain stood alone against the might of the Axis .

I of course include Australia and Canada NZ and SA as we were all British .

I remember watching the tv as the invasion took place of Iraq and said to myself, who is going to repair all this damage to the infrastructure, never mind the broken bodies and the broken minds of all these people.  [now scattered to the four corners of the earth].

[That in itself is a health issue that Mr Trump and his Health care  [insurance]  needs to consider]

My late husband was a political prisioner in Titos politics, because he did not report to the authorities that people had approached him in the hope he would use his boat to cross the Adriatic to Italy. Because he did not report 'them'.  He was put into solitary confinement, could not lay down fully, could not stand up straight month after month.

This destroys a person, especially when they get older.  A young man can be strong mentally and physically but when we age those memories come flooding back.

Later he had to live on an Invalid Pension because his mind was not what it should have been. Physically he was fit.

War is cruel, it not only destroys the homes, but destorys the body and the mind.  Australia thinks we are housing people to get them out of war, but that picture of that war lives with them for their life, we are housing people that will heavily depend on our health system in Australia.

I could go on but won't.

Ann how awful for your dear Husband  AND yourself too -- it must have been and still is VERY hard for you,  I am guessing that your Husband is no longer with us?

To think that these war mongers like Bush etc etc etc never even did their time -- they got out with many excuses same as Dick Cherney etc  but it is they who make a fortune out of it

Hi Plan B.

Yes he is my late husband, many years ago.  He went back to his homeland and did not hear from him for months, had to get the Foreign Affairs to find him for me.

Came back home as if nothing had happened!   I think he got confused a lot and then became very parranoid.

Hubby now was born 20 miles from where I was born in Hampshire UK.....his parents took him to Rhodesia as a 12 year old and my parents came to Perth. We did not know eachother then.  We celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary in Nov.

Yes it was very stressful, especially for two young sons who did not understand what was going on.....that is probably why they don't want children.  [and do not want to get married]  Mores the pity as they are gentle souls and would have made great dads.

I have celebrated my 25th twice .

Congratulations Brocky, you are lucky to do that and get to 50 years.  My late parents did also.

I doubt we will!  We had 15 years first marriage ......

Ann a very sad story.

My parents had  10 years together both wonderful but my wonderful Father died when I was 9 my Mother was also a wonderful person and Mother, she never married again.

Jane Harvey

The killer met Jane Harvey and they were together for nine years.  They had two daughters, aged 19 and 24.

Ms Harvey left Masood after he was jailed over the 2003 stabbing.

He helped convert one of his daughters to the Islamic faith.

“The elder daughter converted to Islam and is living in Birmingham,” the source said.

“She wears a full face veil and I think had changed her name. It was her father who had helped convert her.

“He wanted the younger daughter to convert but Jane was against it and there was quite a family struggle.

Yes Toot I was reading this last night, and I bet this sparked the mans crazy anger to do this........

war does do terrible things to people,   in so many different ways,     yesterday and today,    those planes roaring over ,   for the grand pix,    brought back memories to me of the war,    i was in the middle of LONDON during the bombing,    and although  a child that sound has never left me,    i hate that sound,

.. hey Cats - was wondering how you were going with the Grand Prix so near to you?  You should be used to it - lol - been years now ........ cheers ... :-)

Hi Cats...

Didn't you get sent to the country?   Lots of kiddies from London were sent out to the country to avoid that terror.

My late mother used to say she hated the doodlebugs....coming over then silent and not knowing where they would drop.

I do not know how people cope with these darn car races, they would drive me insane -- I HATE noise especially when it is UNNESASARY

I too remember the air raid shelters my Dad built one in  the back yard -- but I was in Aussie and we did not suffer the way others did -- THANK GOODNESS

BROCKY,    TWICE,   ?    THRICE,    ?

hi foxy,   NO ,   im not used to it,   every year i hate it more,   wish they would send it back to PHILIP ISLAND,    or ADELAIDE,    i am driven mad every year,    its not only the noise,   the streets are closed off,   and trying to get anywhere is a nightmare,     even the traders dont want it,   they make NOTHING from it,     the only ones who profit from it is the hotels,  my hairdresser lady came to do my hair today,   was half hour late as she had to go a long way around,    as the streets are closed off,   its a bloody nightmare,    I HATE IT,         ANN,   no ,   i didnt go away,    i spent the entire war in the middle of LONDON,   we used to watch the doodle bugs,    would be floating through the sky,    then BANG,    WAR is horrible,    we were lucky we didnt get bombed,   but all around us did,     we were stuck in the middle of rubble,

Oh Cats I feel for you, that was terrible.  My family during the war was in Leigh the beaches were all barracaded as you know with barbed wire.  I was too young to remember, but saw the photos. My only memory of war is when I started school and used to play in the airrade shelter.

I wonder how the children or young adults of today would cope if this happened again?

Reading about the Grand Prix, I can well imagine how you feel.  We were in South Yarra in 1999 and I was doing some painting and I could hear the noise from there! It was a terrible thing to bring it into the city. That sort of thing should be on a purpose built track.

Julie Bishop has been warned by America that North Korea has/or is close to having  a nuclear missile capable of travelling 6000 kms which could reach Australia.

I still believe the US will have no option but to make a pre-emptive on Nth Korea before the madman at the helm does something utterly stupid.

Which madman and which helm, we seem to have a situation where that statement fits both countries involved.  Isn't that a worry and a half?

Yes which mad man, there seems several at the helm of various countries at the moment, talk about an invitation for war.  It is certainly troublesome times.

I hope North Korea doesn't sent one of his practise missiles into the great sandy desert and miss!

So what we know from the London attack is that we don't have to worry so much about refugees coming from war-torn countries, it's our own home born, home educated kids from good families who are the problem - the enemy within.   It makes absolutely no sense.
