Just one case symptomatic of many.

Today Olympian Grant Hackett has been arrested on the Gold Coast by Queensland Police officers shortly after noon and has been taken to the Southport Watchhouse in handcuffs.

His father Nev said his son had been arrested over ‘mental health issues’ but declined to comment further.

Mental health problems are so difficult to cope with for so many.

My dad had same.

An unpredictable and often seemingly uncontrollable roller coaster for all involved.

This is so very sad...my heart goes out to him and his family..

It was clear to me after seeing him yesterday on the news he needed psychiatric help and should have been detained..I really hope he comes to no harm or tries to harm anyone...

He's been found and not too worse for wear. Needs a lot of help though.

Hope he seeks it Banjo. So difficult to get help unless the person involved indicates willingness.

Personally experienced this, made even more tricky when person affected denies there's a problem or refuses to seek/take professional advice or treatment.
