More rorting by politicians

Not having a good time Daniel Andrews.

A little while ago we had a politician claiming money for ferrying his dog around...and he  stood down and is not standing at the next election

Now we have the Speaker and Deputy Speaker caught with their snouts in the trough.

One has agreed to pay back the $40K;  the other one had not said if he will pay back the $100K.

How do Victorians feel about this business...??

No one has said anything today;  maybe it has not been reported much.

After reading all or most of the comments about people challiging centrelink for whatever not one comment about these polititions ripping of tax payers so I cant see why some of you ard getting upset about it all when these things seem to happen all the time. Some people lie all the time so get over it & let them sort it out its never been any different &while voters keep putting dickhead candidates in paliment what do you expect .

What I find particularly annoying is when a politician claims that they are legally entitled to a claim when it is obviously against the spirit of the original reason that such a claim was established. When laws are made for the general public, they are carefully framed so that there are no discernible loopholes but it seems that rules governing politicians are not as carefully framed.

ANY politician gilding the lily or actiung fraudulently should be lose their seat.  I don't care what colour they are or who their mates are.

We have a system of government where the criminals are protected.  This is a part of the cancer in the political system which has evolved and we have allowed the crooks to make different rules for themselves as compared to you and I.

Bring back the guillotine!

Nic pic Old Man.  That is the story.

or sharia law - chop off their noses and/or hands

It seems to me most politicians say what voters want to hear until they are actually elected. There is then a free for all in what they can rort from their position and line their pockets, with not a thought for what they promised to the everyday people that elected them.

The Labour govt know their going to get kicked out at the next state election,so they are all going to rort as much as they can, this is only the start.

But if Victorians are stupid enough to vote them in ,there probably only getting what they deserve.

Better than the Liberal's in Victoria don't they rort the system too?, there are many other parties to choose from anyhow.

Could it be that the one who has agreed to pay back the money has found a way to claim it from another scam and the other guy isn't smart enough?

Surely the answer is pretty simple. Use the same rules that apply to commercial companies.

Pay it yourself up front and then claim it back it its legit.

It seems that most politicians are taking as much as they can.  They should all be made to pay back every single cent and they should be named and shamed.  The Government is trying to run the country but don't seem to be achieving much at all.  But the politicians that are so low as to rip off the taxpayers is not acceptable.  I really don't think many of the politicians could justify their position in Government.  I think we have way too many politicians in office and that needs to be cut back.  We need an independent department to go though all politicians spending, going back years and if it can't be justified, make them pay it back.  I think tax payers are so sick of being ripped off.

These crooks should be behind bars....it is thieving, plain and simple.

Melbourne is the fastest growing city in Australia .,

what plans are their to handle this .

it seems from a Sydney perspective that idealogy rules.

These aspiring pollies seem to me to be 'rorting the system' before they even get in IMO ... or maybe I've interpreted the story incorrectly.

In a case like this one in the upcoming WA election ... how would you know who you were really voting for?
