New Bill

On Friday Senator Rachel Siewert presented a Bill in Parliament to amend the Social security Act, which would allow all recipients of benefits to receive the current $550 per fortnight COVID19 supplement. I have created a petition see link below. I will send the results directly to Senator Siewart.

Never happen in a million years! It would be good if it did happen but I can't see anything like that coming from the TOP end of town.

The 'Old' $550 per fortnight ended in September, now it's $250 per fortnight until the end of the year!

My understanding of parliament is that bills may start in the Senate, except for money and taxation bills. As this will increase the spending it may just be more grandstanding by the Greens.

It would only be approved if it only went to the greedy retired politicians that are bleeding this country dry with their high pensions while enjoying the high incomes from outside interests. Where is the equality

Equality!? What a quaint, old fashioned concept! Long gone I'm afraid

equality ... no argument that pensioners should receive the covid allowance when the age pension is at the same level as jobseeker, but not before.

Gee all for pensioners getting more money. But jobseeker had a lot already. Money doesn't grow in tree's.

But anyone over 55 who can't get job I would like to see get it. ( would have been Newstart recipients ) the young been given lots of help to get back to work. But not over 55's.

agree with Patti . Absolutely no equality in this life anymore.  We are now a country with the haves and the have nots. and that i find so sad

Yes Rosi. Equality is not with us but we also have different people like the ones trying to improve themselves all the time and the others who are just happy to stay put (I am one of those!) Then there is the genuine hardship (not alcoholics and gamblers) who should be helped more but how do you sort them all out. I am of the opinion we oldies should be happy at the moment with what we are provided for and should not constantly ask for more till this crisis is behind us. I am afraid there is worse to come.
