One-armed brickie builds house in three days

A one-armed robot bricklayer has built a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Perth in less than three days. And, in case you were wondering, a structural engineering consultancy group has verified the structure meets all relevant building standards.

The Hadrian X robot requires minimal human interaction, works day and night and can lay up to 1000 bricks an hour – about what two experienced bricklayers would achieve in a day.

Perth-based creator FBR Limited is claiming it as a world first.

“What we have achieved here is a quantum leap for the construction industry,” says CEO Mike Pivac. “We are excited by the performance and results, given this work was completed in test speed and for the very first time.”

It’s called the Hadrian X construction robot and Mr Pivac says it’s the world’s “only fully automated, end-to-end bricklaying solution”.

The next step? Global expansion of course.

What a great invention and apllication of technology.

Of course Hadrian like a well known modern day world leader was obsessed with building a wall. :)

Good one Adrianus, that made me smile today.

The largest Roman artifact in the world. Yep an aptly named robot.

Been watching this company for 2 years and regret not having bought stock earlier.  May still invest although as is becoming the norm management is awarding itself huge tracts of shares.  In Fastbrick's case 167 million shares.  Mug punters have to weigh up their risk and what they actually get in the end.

The concept is wonderful and this is one of the (futuristics) robotics projects in project.

MICK, why has there not been very much support for FBR? If you had bought stock earlier, say when Kevin Rudd was PM then you would be losing about 70% of your capital? Would you not? How does a R&D recover from that? And how do they raise more venture capital?

You seem to make an art form out of talking nonsense Adrianus. FBR was founded in 2015. Kevin Rudd was PM from 2007 to 2010. If you do your research you'll find out they have already raised enough venture capital and are on their way and as Sophie mentioned have a big backer in Caterpilar. I'm assuming you've heard of them?

And you Banjo, seem to know your onions, but we're not talking about onions are we.

Fastbrick was busy in the developement stage well before 3 years ago. In fact making good progress in the early 90s. Incorporated in the year 2000. Listed and trading on the ASX Feb. 2001. In fact the share price during Kevin Rudds PMship was $0.96. If you had bothered to think about how they would have raised the venture capital for their R&D you may have stumbled on the facts.

But you are not to know that, just like you werent aware that the Hawke government started the 3% compulsory super contribution. I'm aware that you are a Professor at a Sydney Uni and this makes your distortions of historical events that much more difficult to accept. But please continue to correct me with your insulting remarks if you wish.

Ignore the dear boy Banjo. Fastbrick Robotics started trading on the ASX on Wednesday 18 November 2015, shares were issued @ 2cents and by midday was up to almost 4%. The project first began in 2006, but was abandoned during the GFC. About two and a half years previously Mark Pivac picked it up again and hit the road running. May I smugly add, I have shares in this company. Could sell you some Aquarius, at a price!

Don't worry mate. I should have ignored him from the start since the post was addressed to MICK and left MICK to unravel the nonsense which seemed to come from a 4yr old going on his ipad and collecting disjointed non information and posting it.

Adrianus, maybe like me, you like to hear things from the horse's mouth, well here is the horse himself telling you when he listed on the ASX.

ROFL. Good one Banjo!

Adrianus your problem is, you hate poor old Shortie so much, you turn any comment into an opportunity to have a go at Labor supporters. Have no fear matey, we’ll keep at you and who knows one day you may even think like us centre righties and not like a far far rightie! hahaha

Banjo you and your little pussy micha need to pay more attention with what is going on outside of WA.

Here you are small fry, good reading for a novice like you. Buy or get on kindle.

Venture Capital 101 by [Snow, Bill]

I see, you've got nothing?

A little word of advice Banjo. Get your info from more reliable sources.

Dont rely on you tube videos.

Here's a tip, why not go straight to the ASX? The information given to the ASX is much more reliable because of legal requirements.

Yes..we’ve been watching Fastbrick too and now that Caterpillar has just invested in the company, shares are going to be very worthwhile.

A wonderful concept..just imagine Hadrian X doesn’t require breaks, meals or holidays and can work throughout the nght!

Looking at the human side though..many brickies will be out of work.

Hi Sophie, some big things are happening in WA. The robot idea is a great one, but as you say, it will put many brickies out of work. Might make them sit up and think though about some of the shoddy work they're putting out at the moment and lift their game!

"Looking at the human side though..many brickies will be out of work."

Sophie this is the best thing that could have hapened to Bricklayers.

This answers the question..'how will a bricklayer be able to work to age 70?

Of course there will be less bricklayers but they will be pushing buttons, while under a shaded awning.

My understanding is that Caterpillar is selling its 2% shareholding?

I wonder what 2% of say $167m is?

Not a great deal in the scheme of things, but someone here has obviously read the MoU ? Anyone know what was in that?

Way of the world. Now who is going to come up with a one-armed paperhanger!

There will be a lot more robotic workers like this in the coming years.

Following Sophie's comment, unemployment will rise dramatically.

Wondering about how such things as thermal transmission (single wall), expansion/movement, rising damp and side forces.  Should be much better resistance to termites and fire.

Would test those drunken tenants who like to put their fist through Gyprock walls between the studs.  They will have to concentrate on the doors and fittings :(

I suppose the questions I originally asked are a little more pertinent. Why has there not been very much support for FBR?   How does a R&D company raise more venture capital? I mean apart from the $500 Micha has invested?

So many shareholders and admirers and followers of Fastbrick but so few answers?

Not surprised you get no answers. Bone up about what venture capital is ole dear, then maybe you will be able to ask a sensible question.

I see, no thoughts huh?

Gosh, I love this thread on the one armed brickie. LOL Not a lot of original info from the resident know it all's but still a great thread! imho

LOL!!!

In view of your very rude comment further up Aquarius, I will not lower myself to discuss FBR and its future with you and to set the record straight, I did not reveal my own personal financial interest in the company so stop making up figures. Furthermore dear, I have no time to educate you about venture capital, but will let Professor Siegfried give you some insight.

micha, ROFLOL, you had better ease up on those meds.

"I did not reveal my own personal financial interest in the company so stop making up figures." - micha

What is this then aye?? And where are my made up figures wacker?

"May I smugly add, I have shares in this company. Could sell you some Aquarius, at a price!" - micha post above.

So when you smugly add, that means you're about to tell a porkie?

Quote Adrianus further up page: How does a R&D company raise more venture capital? I mean apart from the $500 Micha has invested?

I notice Aquarius when you are caught like a rabbit in the headlights (and that is almost always) you become abusive. Kindly control yourself. The key word here is figures  you said $500, I did not state a figure, stop making things up  or are we witnessing a severe case of mythomania? HAHAHA and HA

Image result for clipart of mythomania

Gotta go, time to decant a fine bottle of Bin 707 CabSav from my very secure cellar. See ya!
