Out on a limb

Last year in Victoria, 3500 complaints among neighbours about trees were made to the Dispute Settlement Centre – nearly 10 a day.

“The law in Victoria is hard to find. When you find it, it's hard to understand and then it is hard to apply,” said Victorian Law Reform Commission chair Phillip Cummins, who is conducting an inquiry into the state’s confusing rules on settling disputes about trees.
