Over 1.6 million Brits don’t want a UK Presidential visit

queen elizabeth looking angry

Around 1.6 million Brits have signed a petition calling for Trump’s invitation to visit the UK to be rescinded. The petition specifically mentions how a Trump visit would be “embarrassing to the Queen” and that the planned state visit should be cancelled.

Donald Trump has certainly done himself no favours in the eyes of the UK. He has insulted Lady Diana, telling shock-jock Howard Stern that, if she were still alive, he could have slept with her. His Twitter comments about the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, have also irked the Queen and country. I mean look at that pic – she looks as if she could still raise hell doesn't she?

The debate over whether Trump’s visit should be cancelled will take place today in Westminster Hall.

Would you like Trump to visit Australia?

Leon,  Are you trying to cause dissension?  This is a forum for Seniors,  NOT left or right wing politics.  There is an old statement that says:-  Those who are not for me are agin me.  1.6 Brits out of 60+ million means nothing.  48.5 million FOR the visit has a distinct Democratic tone to it.  You could probably get that many permanent dissenters to want to invite ISIS to move their headquarters to London.   If you want to follow this line, why doesn't Admin give a special award of "Preferred Posters" to Mussifacts & Barak?  I have no objection to you expressing a Mussifacts or Barak opinion, BUT I do object to the same thing from LeonYLC.

BTW,  YES, I & a lot of other Australian citizens would love to welcome Trump as a visitor.  BUT it is not likely to occur in the next year or so.  Let us suffice to say that if ISIS or the likes ever decide to attack Australia, his forces will be here to defend us.  Our piddling little defence forces certainly couldn't do it.

Just as an aside -Historically the USA has not come to our aid in any hurry and DT is in a rush to disband NATO and our trading agreements.

Presidents rarely come to Australia -its too expensive and they have no need.

The United States military base in the far north is for their benefit as a stepping stone to Asia if needed. It is not there to protect us - it's there to protect them.

But hey - they are still our allies and as close to us as any of our friendly nations.

However, even though this post is a bit of a sham - I don't think DT would be wise to travel anywhere at the moment.

I agree with you Innes. This site is getting ridiculous in its attempts to trigger the faux outrage of the few. They have a few well worn buttons they continually press - pensions, The Government, Islam, Moslems and immigration, welfare, business tax (they even recylce their own old articles) and now Mr Trump is seen as the gift that keeps giving. Today there are two attempts to get everyone riled up over Mr Trump. This is one of them.

The UK & USA must work together no matter who is in government.

World affairs are far more important than possible embarrassments to individuals.

Trump may well be offensive to some Britons but so are many other government leaders - but is essential to keep the lines of communication open.

I'm guessing that the UK would never cancel a State Visit by Puitin.

Yup! agree...

So way less than the number who wanted to stay in the European Union.

No I'd have to leave my pussy at home

Oh, no!

It is always somewhat prudent, I think, to swim with the flow.

Yes, I wouldn't mind if Donald Trump visited  Oz.

(We may need him more than he needs us, just quietly)

DT is a far more dynamic and interesting character than the run of the mill drone clones we have in Australia.

I would like love to meet him,

Besides, words are just that , words..and there are billions of them uttered and written every day, why pick out a few to blow into a media frenzy ,

Lets see what the President can do,before tearing him down, that will speak volumes.

KSS

I agree with you , The site is becoming ridiculous, taken over by the left . as a seniors site it is becoming irrelevant. Stick with your knitting and get back to being a" seniors site" you are loosing credibility.

In a word   NO

The Queen and the UK have entertained people who are far more repugnant that DT, ie Soviet leaders, Idi Amin et al, The Brits are superb at turning the other cheek and putting on a great show. Somehow I don't think the Queen or the average Brit, would lose any sleep at hosting DT; this is just a storm in a teacup (stirred up,I suspect, by the media on a slow news day).

hey this is lifechoises, what is right has to be left on this site, democratic elected parliamemtarians will never be accepted unless they agree with the rabid left organisers of this site, a so called site for pensioners to put their opinions on as long as you don't upset the applecart , more objections to the American policies than those to our own country, Australia, it shows enough that these so-called Aussie representatives, with other words, life choises paid employees, contributors opinions, one has to wonder if  they have ever been or lived in a country which did not have the same freedom and living conditions this beautiful country called AUSTRALIA has. when aussies were aussies , I think it is time to put the curtains up to those sites who states they represent the pensioners only to be found out to have another cause, may it be political or more sinistical

the british can have trump, we don t want him here. this country is in a mess cause of him. he wont come down under, y'all jest not important enough for him. so thank your lucky stars.

No worries, he hasn't insulted Australia by anything, that someone said he said and then the news media said

Putin has already had a State visit to the UK.

The 1.6 m people that have signed that [re Mr T's visit] document, [so I have read] have included people outside the UK.

The worlds media is very good at painting pictures of people that have upset them in the negative. I have not made up my mind how Mr T will be as a President.  I shall give him the benefit of the doubt.

Interesting that people outside UK should be signing a petition ???

Also one has to wonder how many signatures are duplicated and more ... feel pretty sure that any of us could also sign such petition.

As far as any politician visiting another country whoever they are .... it is just a waste of money with the modern technology ... further it causes polution on earth by jetting here and there.

Wish we had conscription for those over 18 to back up our army, even increase the Reserve would be a vote winner for this family.  Everyone male and female between 18 and 28 for  10 years.

ps:   Yes I would like a Mr T visit to Australia!

Half the time Presidents of the USA don't have a clue what little Australia is all about.  If they spent some time down here to actually see they may know a bit of what they are talking about.    Mr T actually called PM President of Australia if I remember correctly.

Whoa! Just who are these 2.7% of Brits and how did they get into the country? he he he he.

Frank they swam and they swam right over the Dam.....
