Pensioners spend last $11 on lotto ticket and win big

someone filling out a lottery ticket

A couple from Western Australia who were on the verge of losing their home, rolled the dice (so to speak), spent their last $11 on a lotto ticket and won big.

The Port Kennedy couple, aged in their 60s, became overnight millionaires after buying the country’s only division one winning lotto ticket.

The couple were doing it tough and were set to sell their home because they couldn't afford the mortgage repayments. Then the woman (unnamed) had a dream that she had won the lotto, so her husband spent their last bit of change on a ticket.

Now the couple are set to take home $1 million.

The owner of the store from where the ticket was bought knew the couple was having money troubles and was happy to hear they were now millionaires.

“It couldn’t have gone to a more deserving couple,” he said.

Ain't life grand sometimes?

Good on  them, :)

Why can't I have dreams like that?

In a houseful of blokes, I dream the kitchen will be spotless, and the seat down in the loo...

but I carry on dreaming...!

Fools that $11 could have bought them much needed food instead.

I always pay attention to prescient dreams. Well done both of you.

Also good news for the taxpayer as their pension will be reduced.

I don't believe in gambling, but one can't help feeling pleased that the money went to a deserving couple, anyway.

All this while on the taxpayer teat

half of that should go back to the government

but such people have no conscience

Geeeez - what a miserable "bunch" of  "negative" answers? lol lol - obviously the people here have never ever been so far down on their luck that they would not do that in desperation?

Anyway what can you buy for $11.00?  Eggs/bread/baked beans/soup/milk? Not a whole lot I would imagine?

Be happy for them!!!!  Least someone "deserving" won!

Heard one lot interviewed awhile back and they answered "Oh we are renovating another beach house at the moment - now we don 't have to worry about the expense of the carpet"!  Well duhhhhhhhhhhh - they already had "money" to renovate another house!  lol lol

Be fair Raphael - you do not know/have no idea -  if these people were being funded by the taxpayer? Outrageous comment!! But then - that's you -   :-)

shut up foxy babe

Please and thank you

I'm entitled to my opinion, youre not :)

...firstly .....  don't be so rude!  Thankyou!

Yes - you are entitled to your "opinion" - but to "assume" that these people were on welfare is outrageous and appalling!   Is it not???

To have an "opinion" is one thing - but to "accuse" these people (whom you do not know) - of being on welfare - is not on ...!

Don't make me come to Melbourne and spank  your furry butt

lol lol lol  - you wish!

What a jealous lot of people there are around here , as if $11 dollars once in their lifetime is going to put anyone on the poverty line . I bet if one of you lot were as desperate  as this couple you would have one LITTLE  flutter just for luck

But I guess they could have bought a cup of coffee and a muffin

you wouldn't have had a bitch about that

be happy for them you are so un Australian

GOOD ON YA ..!!!!!!

You just beat me foxy lol

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy for Suzie!!!!!    :-)

So bloody negative un Aussie replies from a lot

$1 million won't get them much in Sydney but it warms my heart to see battlers win.  My only hope is that the money goes into paying off debt rather than whoopee.  Congratulations!

Good on them, hope they spend it well. I'm going to bed early tonight and hope I have a dream too LOL

Me too Reagan, but my dreams won't change.....Lol

nighty night.... :)
