Permanent Aged Care Resident Income and Assets Form

Hi. I am trying to help my elderly parents complete this form. My parents currently rent a unit in a retirement village. This living situation is not on the form anywhere. Could someone please help with what to do next? Is there help available to complete this complex form, Any sugestions appreciated.

It is definitely there, and it asks for the exit value from memory.

Is this the form you are talking about GB ?

If it is perhaps McDaddy may be able to help you with it as it seems he has done it before

Thanks. Yes, this the form and I will have another look at.

William  ... the name of your avatar appears to have changed from GB to 109 ...I am still talking to the same person ?

I just glanced at it quickly but there seems to be instructions how to fill out the form.

The admin at the retirement village would also be experienced in filling out these forms ? ...they  may employ a Welfare officer ??

Thanks Suze. I had to place a "nickname " in profile before I could post a reply??? Good idea. I will call them. The difficulty is I am over 4 hours away. We will get there in the end.

Shame you cannot relocate them closer to where you live ...

Q23 asks if they own or part own their home including a retirement village. If younswer no, you jump to Q71. You mentioned in your question they are "renting" a Retirement Village? Not sure what you are having trouble with sorry.

I have a sister nearby and trying to share the load.

Maybe they paid an Entry Contribution and have some ownership, the "rent" maybe management fees, similar to rates, water etc etc. If this is the case you answer "yes" at Q23 and then follow along the questions. Where it asks for net market value, it refers to an exit value for Retirement Villages, this can be provided by the Village management. Hope this helps a bit.

It is a rental and they did pay a fee at start. Even getting rental assistance. Calling the manager shortly.

Ok, so it might be known as a Lifstyle or over 55s resort etc, same sort of place though, need to know what they would get back if they left etc. Does Centrelink consider them homeowners? Also if only 1 of them is going into care, and the other is staying there, the place is exempt for Aged Care Fee calculations.

I have found out that the rental situation is defined as "Periodic tenancy' I still cant find a section to place it. Manager has not yet returned call.

Periodic tenancy arrangements are sometimes used by not-for-profit organisations running community-based villages.

A periodic tenancy is a lease (written or verbal) between the resident and the owner in which there is no fixed date for the end of the lease. This means the agreement operates from rental period to rental period.

In some cases you pay an ingoing contribution, some or all of which may be refundable at the end of the tenancy period. Paying rent gives you the right to live in the unit and use any common facilities.
