Now, I don't mind a bit of pineapple on my Hawaiian pizza but it seems Iceland’s President is not a fan.

Speaking to students at a school in northern Iceland, President Guðni Th. Johannesson? agreed to answer some questions, and the answer to one has made him a household name. When asked if pineapple was an acceptable pizza topping, he replied that he was “fundamentally opposed” to the fruity topping.

Later clarifying his stance on pineapple, the President took to Facebook with this statement: "I like pineapples, just not on pizza. I do not have the power to make laws which forbid people to put pineapples on their pizza. I am glad that I do not hold such power".

"Presidents should not have unlimited power. I would not want to hold this position if I could pass laws forbidding that which I don't like. I would not want to live in such a country."

And his suggestion as an alternative – “For pizzas, I recommend seafood”.

Which way do you lean in the pineapple on pizza arguement? Is there a different topping you can't abide? Or do you have your own 'strange' favourite?

This is the only bought pizza I eat

Baby spinach, fresh tomato, red onion & mozzarella topped with chilli flakes.... I do change the sauce to creme fraiche and it is YUM !!!

Do not like pineapple or any of their meats or seafoods on my Pizza

Pineapple's fine ... pref. Seafood Pizza ... "anything and everything" - except - Black Olives!!!

olives , Anchovies, pineapple, minced meat, seafood, tender steak

all good

home made of course including the base

none of this fast food shit

.... go to a fantastic Italian Pizza joint and it's virtually "to die for"! The one I go to is a big family run business....... been in business for 20 years..and still using King Prawns on their Seafood Pizza's - (not the tiny lil tinned "shrimpy" type ones!)

Expensive - sure!! ..... but - old story - you get what you pay for ......... :-)

How big did you say those prawns were??

I will eat pineapple on or with almost anything. Love a toasted ham/cheese/pineapple sandwich.

i love pineapple on anything, but dont eat shellfish, agree with RAPHAEL here, [for once], home made is best, and takes no time at all, just have your ingredients ready to go, and done in 5 minuets, i will eat anything on them apart from shellfish, love the anchovys.

Catsahoy hi....don't eat shell fish or dairy, so no pizza with cheese. Love anchovys...but have to watch what I eat big time due to reactions.

Yes love pineapple, pineapple juice is great, and very good I find as a decongestant.

When in Rome to our surprise there was a Pizza Restaurant that advertised they make Pizza to order even with no cheese. So there must be lots of people that do not or cannot eat pizza with cheese.

As long as my pizza is kosher, you can put anything on it.

foxy, dont take long at all, having your topping ready is the longest part. once you have them prepared , your set, the dough takes 5 minuets ,

It's a personal choice. Personally, I don't like pineapple on Pizza Hut, then again, I love anchovies on mine! A lot of people would say, who am I to comment!

When I visit my daughter there's a wonderful pizza place near her. Gourmet pizza with anchovies, olives, mushrooms - you name it. A different pizza for her of course and , yes, she dies like pineapple on hers!

i Thi k I'd rather have the pineapple than those cockroaches! If I saw that I don't Thi k I'd ever eat one again.

strangely enough ( or maybe not, maybe it's " rude") , my husband and I once had a lovely pizza ( it was Dominoes - he didn't like them back here!) in a little tiny town in Mexico called San Christobel. It was yummy! Personal choice - but without the creepy crawlies!

Pineapple on pizza is lovely. I don't see why there's such a fuss. I hardly ever eat it but on the rare occasion, I really enjoy it.
