Queensland Driver's Licences to go Gender Free.

Gender will no longer be listed on Queensland road and marine licences, in a move that has been hailed “political correctness gone mad”.

The state’s Department of Transport and Main Roads last night confirmed the licencing scheme overhaul in a bid to comply with new anti-discrimination laws, The Courier-Mail reports.

The requirement to detail height will also be removed, along with personal information including eye and hair colour.

According to an internal document obtained by the newspaper, the move follows complaints from the LGBTIQ community that the information may be “perceived as discriminatory”.

“TMR has received complaints and suggestions from members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community about displaying gender/sex (M or F) on TMR cards,” the leaked document reportedly stated.

Is it a good idea? Should we no longer be referred to as Male or Female? What's your opinion?

Artificial intelligence??

More like natural stupidity.

So....To accommodate those who can't decide what their sex is according to what is between their legs, those of us who do know today and probably tomorrow and will accept what gender we were nominated since birth, have to be discriminated against to appease a minority?

IDIOTS.

This thread was about Queensland not putting a title  on Driving Licenses as the other states have not found it neccesary . That’s all .

“Frank “ aka Micha brought the gay and lesbian community into the discussion to successfully cause an argument ..

Pete, wouldnt you be much more at home on the Happy thread?

Micha the site would be a much happier place without a young fella invading every thread and attacking our senior female members...

This isas stupid as an article in our Sunday Mail about the Commonwealth Games volunteers.   You're not allowed to say " ladies and gentlemen" - " boys and girls" etc, etc.     it's just getting ridiculous.   Ladies and gentlemen is a respectful form of address.  How about all the people who DO PREFER IT, - don't our opinions matter anymore.   It's ridiculous.

It's about appeasing the easily offended PC lefty imbeciles.

Ridiculous describes it well Funy face

Well, how about M/F/I for Male/Female/Intersex?

Sorry Katie, dont think that would work. What about the L and G etc.?I doubt if the humble driver's licence will ever be proof of sexual identity.

The idea of equality is to stop people from being known as Male or Female. It's a communist thing. Equality = Same.

I checked my Victorian licence and there is no indication of gender but my photo is there and also my name. The photo is your ID and your name. Much ado about nothing!

Kathleen, your photo & name don't necessarily identify your gender if that's needed for ID purposes.

Frank, I was meaning that the "I" could cover those who aren't sure.  The Lesbians & Gays, as far as I'm aware, are happy to be called Females & Males respectively, which is what they are.

Exactly Katie and I’m sure Frank knows that although he pretends to be ignorant for the sake of stirring hostility toward lesbians and gays.

Katie,  after reading the Safe Schools Program I am convinced that when children are being told that to be called a male or female is like getting 2 out of 10 there is some evidence behind the neutralising of gender identity.

Perhaps you will see it from a different perspective when more and more children are given unisex names? rather than being called Katie or Frank it will become more trendy to be called Ash, Kai or Frankie?    :)

Robi, my beef is with social engineering not it's victims.

Frank,

The Safe Schools Program you have read is not the Safe Schools Program I have read.

Unisex names have been around for yonks...long before you or I were born - some examples: Francis and Frances, Robin, Pat, Lyn, Peter/Peta, Dani/Danny, Sam, Lou, Lea/Leigh, Kim, Tony and many more.

Robi the Safe schools information on their website is not to be taken notice of. Thanks for that info. I thought it sounded sus. :)

You are quite correct, unsex names have been around since Adam was seduced by Eve, but my point is that more and more parents will see an advantage in them.

Thanks Robi.  And, yes, Frank, I know what you're saying.  If I had a child at school I'd like them to know that they're either a girl or a boy.  But, if at times they feel more like one or the other, well, that that's fine - and normal, if you like - too.

I'm still bemused as to why the issue of Queensland licences not displaying gender and height is an issue in 2018 ... when the licences were actually changed on 1 October 2016 (see here) in line with every other state … none of which display gender or height either.

It's an issue because the mainstream media decided to turn it into one.  Slow news day?  Whatever the reason/agenda, it worked, people are talking about it.

Agree Leonie, a slow news day at the Courier Mail ... ably extended by this thread on YLC.

Thanks for the update, RnR!  (:
