Should politicians have two or more jobs?

The Kerryn Phelps win in Wentworth has raised the question whether a politician is short-changing the public by having two or more jobs, especially where the second job is also on the public payroll.

Reportedly, Kerry Phelps  intends to perform in her medical practice (in lieu of having another doctor attend her patients) and at the same time she will stay on as a Sydney Councillor and undertake her new role as the federal MP for Wentworth.

Kerryn Phelps has said 'she will reassess next April'(!) whether she can hold down all roles.

But aren't Australian politicians paid very handsomely indeed for jobs that they say require excessive hours and some young politicians are even taking the golden handshake, that golden super forever, because the job is too much?

Accepting that Dr Phelps is not the first and only offender, if the jobs are part-time their pay and conditions should be reduced accordingly?

YES.   we do have a bit of fun now and then,   some good topics,    hope you enjoy,

I think if they are only working part-time as a politician then they should get part-time wages, most politicians do not need a second or third job so why not give them up and make room for unemployed people to get work. Are just plain greedy for money?

And they should have to prove how many hours they put in. How on earth can they put 100% in to any job if they do more than one job too.
