Taking a picture the modern way

I was looking at ads for 3D printing today. We have a broken piece of the lock on one of our sliding glass doors, just the lever bit you click up and down to lock or unlock it.

Hubby thought maybe he could get a new bit printed and reinstall it himself. So I went online looking for places that do it for you and got a bit carried away with the possibilities.

I discovered that in an Officeworks somewhere in Victoria they have a 3d printer you can walk into and scan yourself. Then you can print a mini-me 3D image of yourself.  It costs $99 for a person.

We've come a long way since some idiot sat on a copy machine and took a copy of his bum, haven't we? The mind boggles.

Seriously though, with all the talk in another thread of the dangers of 5g towers and the like, would any of you be prepared to walk into one of these. At my stage of life, I wouldn't be tempted, couldn't think of anything worse. But I might have been tempted in my youth when I still looked reasonably good.

A 3d image of my kids might have been tempting before they became teenagers and morphed into sub-human creatures too.

I never did get around to finding out if we could get a replacement lever printed for the door, he ended up going to Bunnings and buying a whole new handle.  LOL

PS ... if you are the parents (or grandparents) of alien beings who were once idyllic children, not to worry, they rejoin the human race around 21 or 22.

Of course you could buy your own 3D printer as a toy if you had enough space to keep it somewhere.

HAve to have a chuckle Leonie -- so easy to get carried away with technology these days -- I love it --

It gives a whole new meaning to the term 'selfie' doesn't it?  LOL  They're probably trying to figure out a way to share them on instagram and snapchap as we talk.

PS ...  It is an actual model of yourself too, not just an image as I erroneously stated in the OP.

Like this hilarious picture someone captioned ... Honey I shrunk the kids
