Tele Neets becomes Tele crap journalism

The Daily Telegraph has admitted its front page exclusive on two dole bludgers was not true.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story seems to be the Tele motto. Anyway a few members had a good time expressing their views on todays youth while boasting of their valiant struggles in the workforce and life in general. How do they feel now having been taken for mugs by the Tele ? Front page for the crap and page 8 for the truth. The Tele plays its readers like a violin and the readers lap it up time after time. Give em what they want to read to keep them happy, bugger the truth.

Well it seems the NEETs are only going to attract comments if its a story thats crap but suits the preconceived thoughts on the young. Must be a message there somewhere.

I feel this is typical of modern journalism ... it goes to press before all the facts are known. It is not just the Telegraph, it is all the newspapers .... almost seems the media is running the country in many ways ?

Maybe it is the effect of the digital media that the papers have to compete with.

Could be Abby. The big story today is a divorce petition by a movie star which affects nobody but themselves.

Ya gotta laugh....

With too many of us  being 'played like a fiddle' by the media and succumbing to the power of the simplicity of stereotypes i.e. Mt. Druitt = dole bludgers.  Muslim asylum seekers = terrorists - you know that sort of thing - and on and on and on it goes.

Certainly something in the "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story" media mantra.

Why blame the Telegraph or the reporter for a lying teenager???  Here are the facts -

"Amy has since admitted that she lied about her employment status - she in fact works at McDonald's - and said she thought she was "being cool".

"I just went to Centrelink with my mate as she was making an application. I'm going to work tonight even though I feel depressed," she said.

Amy's father, Steven, a Corrective Services worker, said his daughter's story was entirely false.

He told The Daily Telegraph his daughter was just a "silly teenager who was acting up and wanted her five minutes of fame" and that she works in the very McDonald's she claimed to relax at.

The 47-year-old man said his daughter has worked at the store's Penrith franchise for seven months despite her presence at Centrelink last week.

I would think its part of a reporters job to verify what a person is saying to them and its a media organisation that should keep reporters to a standard. If they are going to make it a front page spread then due dilligence is even more important. Thats my point. The story was the goal not the accuracy or even the truth.

" “My daughter was not totally innocent but she did say to the reporter ‘I work and I have just finished year 12’ and he said ‘that’s OK we’re just going to ask you few questions’. And then she just got caught up in it. "

Perhaps the headlines should declare it as GOSSIP ??? instead of news

However all this refers to Amy ...what about her friend ???

How is Amy totally innocent ?Perhaps dad should have taught his daughter that if you play with fire you will get burnt ...definitely will not look good on her resume in the future.

The father says his daughter is not totally innocent. The pity is the daughter had a good story to relate about her own efforts to educate herself and work part time. With the net any story remains on the net more or less for future referrence, get burnt.

And the media wonders why they are becoming less relevant to the Australian public?  If they don't check their facts how can they call themselves profesionals?

Murdoch crap again.

Why does anyone accept his lies, ever?

I see that most Universaties have changed the way they issue degrees in journalism.  From now on they are issyed in the toilets, you have a dispensor on the wall of each cubicle, with a sign saying tear along the perferated line.
